Topic: Should I gamble on Bangkok? Return to archive

Zack I was ready to splurge and get tickets for the Cardiff show, even though it involves an 11-hour flight. Now I hear rumors of a Bankgok show, which is obviously much closer to me and a city I really enjoy. If I let Cardiff go, and the Bangkok or Bangalore shows don't happen, I'm fucked. But didn't the Bangkok show in 2003 get cancelled becuase of SARS, meaning they sort of owe the city a show? That leads me to believe the odds may not be so bad. What do y'all think - should I gamble on the South Asia shows or stick to Cardiff, the (expensive) bird in the hand?

speedfreakjive well, Cardiff is the last gig of the Europe leg, so it might be a bit more vital than Glasgow, for example.

But would it not be a better idea to wait for confirmation? I don't think Cardiff will be sold out too quickly. Even if it is, you can buy on Ebay.

Gazza Bangkok and India are supposedly both pretty much certs for late November, Zack, apparently

With the tour finishing early December in Hawaii.

(which, trivia fans, was the location for both Brian Jones and Mick Taylor's final US shows - but hopefully not Charlie's or anyone else's...)

cue 'Twilight Zone' music....

Gazza In the light of what we've read in the last couple of days (plus the rumours going around from when this tour started that this would be the last actual big tour), it IS a bit friggin spooky isnt it?

Gazza Zack

I'm unclear as to why you wanted to go to Cardiff - is it because its the last European show or because you think it might be the last show of the entire tour?

Firstly - dont bet against Euro shows happening after Cardiff. Whilst I dont think they'll ADD any extra ones, theres always the possibility that shows get postponed and rescheduled. Its happened on every Stones tour that I can recall. Every one since 1982 theyve added shows at the end of the tour at relatively short notice either as rescheduled gigs or additional ones.

Secondly - barring something going badly wrong, the ABB tour will not end in Europe. The additional series of US shows are very likely as is, it would seem, a return trip to Asia.
