Gazza pretty tame by the Sun's standards to be honest.

What I always found interesting is that every time the Stones have gone on tour in the last 20 odd years, the tabloid papers have trotted out the same lame jokes from their ever so witty, with-it youthful columnists - and then by the time the NEXT tour rolls around and is even more successful than the last one, the columnists in question are no longer on the scene and have just been replaced by some other nobody who thinks that THEIR "quips" are oh so original..

"Stones to tour aged 242"....In complete seriousness, prior to the Licks tour, I am 99.9% certain that there was actually a feature in the same column in the "Sun" entitled "Stones to tour aged 230".

Thing is too, there's absolutely no story there, yet its a headline. It says nothing about the tour (which even that writer has mentioned at various times in recent months) just that they are going to and they happen to be getting on a bit.

Obviously a very slow news day!

Monkey Woman Time Is On Our Side has a page entirely devoted to Mick's answers along the years to the age questions:

http://www.timeisonourside.com/Mickage.html

A few samples:

"(The press' questioning about age has) got worse and worse. Does it just prove that journalists can add up how much four people's ages come to? Thank God Bill's not in the group!"
-- 2001

"You sometimes wish the press would review the show as a show instead of doing all this pontification about your history. Some of the journalists have been doing this as long as we have, and they don't know what to say anymore, so they add up our ages and print that."
-- 2002

Monkey Woman A last one, which shows the topic is nothing new:

" Ah fuck it, who cares (if this is the last tour)? That's all I can say we're gonna do at the moment. That's all anyone can say. "

Soldatti What can you expect from those tabloids? Just a bunch of idiots.
