Sorry if this has been asked before but i just got in from seeing Shine A Light and noticed that Emotional Rescue was on one of the setlists that Mick was holding. Not sure if it was rehearsed for the film, but my question is has this song ever been performed live, and if so when? |
|
pdog |
no, not even rehearsed, that I know of... |
|
Jables |
That would be something to dig out for the next tour.. I would love to hear how it comes off live. |
|
mrhipfl |
I'd bet money that it would sound dreadful, especially these days. Mick could just barely pull off "worried about you" during the licks and ABB tours, doubt he could do ER. It's also a very tight song and as we know the guitarists these days are about as loose as can be. Of course, I've been wrong before. |

I actually thought he sang Worried About You fantastic when i saw them at the Forum in Inglewood a few years back.. Yeah i know what you mean about them being "loose" but ya never know.. |

I don't know about 2006, but I'm pretty sure they rehearsed it in '99 before the start of the European Tour. |

I think I remember it being played live when they shot a video in a club, don't remember the date.Never circulated though. |

No..its never been played live. I'd bet that it never will be either, for the reasons that mrhipfl states. Mick is having to screech to hit the top notes in 'Worried about you'. A lot more of 'ER' is sung in falsetto and his voice being so fragile these days, its a much riskier song for him to attempt.
They didnt perform it in a club when shooting the two videos. It was just lip synched - although when they were doing the WOAF, Undercover and LARS videos, they did play a few songs in between takes - maybe thats what youre thinking of. |

I think one song from that album that would be great live is "Send It To Me"..Mick could change the lyrics to fit the location and I think it would be well received. Not holding much hope though. |

They should try let me go again as well...even i know
it can´t be like in 81&82,without bill its impossible to get that swing, but still.
Down in the hole would suit them perfectly! |

I thought Let Me Go was fucking terrible in 1981-82...a noisy tuneless thrash. As was Shes So Cold. Both were good in the studio, though.
SSC was better on the most recent tour. Let Me Go would work well if they used a similar tempo to the original. Throw in a pedal steel while theyre at it. They still do those country style rockers very well.

Yeah, they'd have to slow down "Let Me Go" to make it work now.
But I think "Let Me Go" was really cool in 81/82... Mick spitting out the lyrics while chewing gum at 800 bites per minute. |

I believe that was the one where he was literally running through the aisles high-fiving fans as he sang. Not exactly ideal conditions for a definitive vocal rendition! |

Can't remember who it was...think it was Mathijs, wrote that Jagger was chewing gum like a maniac on stage, when he was speeded up - which makes a lot of sense - especially when seeing him in Let's Spend The Night Together... he's flying skyhigh over Sun Devil Stadium

My fault. It was '99, but it was the No Security rehearsals in San Francisco, not the European rehearsals.

i hate that mick has brought this fancy boy 70s dicso-pop-dance music to one of the greatest rock and roll bands to grace this planet.
are you guys kidding me? this song fucking sucks. so does worried about you. he should have taken this drivel to his SOLO producer and given the stones a number of THOSE tracks to put on THEIR records. |
