Hi everyone.
This is my first post here.
I'm wondering if any of you can help me, or point me in the right direction.
I'm on a team of people creating a mod for a game called Battlefield 2.
For anyone who doesn't know what a mod is...
A mod is a modification for a game allready in exsistance.
EA released a game called Battlefield 2, which is set in modernday warfare.
We are "modding" it, so it is a Vietnam base game.
Mods are free downloads for people who allready have that game. And mods are supported by the game producers, in this case Electronic Arts.
Our mods webpage is www.eodmod.com
What I would like to know are copyright rules.
We would like to put some music clips into the game (like a radio at certain points of a level, playing the stones).
And when the levels load.
Are you allowed to use small clips, if so how long?
Can you use full audio clips as we are 100% non profit makeing, people download our mod for free, we do it in spare time after school, work etc.
I doubt you can use it all, just asking.
So thats my question really, what (if any) can we legaly use.
And if we can't who would I contact to ask?
Thank you for your time reading this.
Shaun. |

Officially? Nope. Not even small clips (I think). The music is copyrighted. And The Stones are known for their reluctance in giving permission for use. |

Ok, thanks for the quick reply.
Do the stones own their own music? Or do their record company?
Do they have their own label even?
Any help on who to ask would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to try, the worse they can say is no.
And they will by the sounds of it, but I would like to give it a go.
thank you for your quick reply anyway. |

Gee, good questions there. There are different sorts of rights I think. I'm not such an expert on the way they handle things, but I'm sure there are knowledgable people here who can answer that. |
