Bluesmen Perkins, Musselwhite to Play Handy Awards
LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - Pinetop Perkins, Charlie Musselwhite, Bettye Lavette, Ellis Hooks, Maria Muldaur, Otis Taylor and multiple nominee Kim Wilson are among the performers scheduled for the W.C. Handy Blues Awards show, set to take place April 29 at the Cannon Center Ballroom in Memphis.
Other performers on the bill include Rory Block, Jimmy Burns, Mickey Champion, Ronnie Earl, Sonny Rhodes and Eddie Shaw. This year's inductees in the Blues Foundation's Hall of Fame include Bo Diddley, the late Piedmont bluesman Blind Boy Fuller, and pioneering producer J. Mayo Williams.
Wilson leads the field with six nominations for the awards, which are handed out annually by the non-profit Memphis-based Blues Foundation.
