I haven't read any confirmation that it is indeed the Rolling Stones who are applying for a permit. The dates and the hearing are confirmed but it could be for any number of other bands.

I've been hearing the 21st and 23rd. I think the boys doing two gigs on conscecutive nights may be pushing it a bit. |

From boston.com:
Rolling Stones may play Fenway
By the Associated Press | March 14, 2005
BOSTON (AP) -- First Bruce Springsteen, then Jimmy Buffett, and now a published report says The Rolling Stones are the latest rock and roll act to set their sights on Fenway Park.

Mayor Tom Menino's office confirmed that a hearing is scheduled for March 30 on a proposal by the Red Sox to hold a third summer concert series at the historic ballfield. But a spokesman for the mayor said he could not confirm a report in the "Boston Courant" that Mick Jagger and the boys are the ones in question.
The Boston Herald reported the tentative dates for the two shows would be August 21 and 23.
Bruce Springsteen was the first to hold a pair of rock concerts at Fenway in 2003. Jimmy Buffett and his "parrotheads" took over the ballpark for two nights last

Local Boston Tv news stations have been carrying the story with footage of the Stones at Fleet and Gillete. I have to remain hopeful |

Dr. Charles Steinberg, Bosox vp of Public Affairs was on WTKK this morning.
He would neither confirm or deny the matter.
Wintah is spot on in an earlier post regarding the Neighbors in the Fens, the power they yield.
Don't forget, the Stones were denied a licence to perform
Bahston twice in the past, 78 & 81 to be specific, thus such denial would not be without precedent..
Still, the thoughts of Fenway do look appealing..

From everything I've seen about Mayor Mennino, he loves publicity & the Stone's playing at Fenway(especially a tour opener) is right up his crack. I am putting in for those days off. |
