22nd Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Set For March 12
New York, NY (AHN) - On March 12, the 22nd Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
The ceremony will include:
Jay-Z inducting "Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five": Grandmaster Flash, Cowboy, Kidd Creole, Melle Mel, Raheim, Mr. Ness/Scorpio; major revolutionaries in Hip Hop movement; Released first single, "Superrappin," in 1979.
Eddie Vedder of "Pearl Jam" inducting "R.E.M.": Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Michael Stipe; Released first single, "Radio Free Europe," in 1981.
Keith Richards of "The Rolling Stones" inducting "The Ronettes": Veronica "Ronnie Spector, Estelle Bennett, Nedra Talley; Released first single, "I Want a Boy," in 1961
Zach de la Rocha of "Rage Against the Machine" inducting Patti Smith: Punk rocker, Bohemian New York poet; Released first single, "Hey Joe," b/w "Piss Factory," 1974.
Velvet Revolver inducting "Van Halen": Michael Anthony, Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth, Alex Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen; released debut album, "Van Halen," in 1978, which remained on album charts for 169 weeks, peaking at #19, six weeks after album's release was certified gold, years later certified 10 times platinum, selling over 10 million copies.
The induction of "Van Halen" will be the ceremony's highlight. However, what members of the group, if any, will attend the night's festivities is unknown. Velvet Revolver is scheduled to perform in Van Halen's place.
A tribute by Aretha Franklin will be performed in memory of the late Ahmet Ertegun, past Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame foundation.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland, Ohio, preserves the history of well-known musical artists and individuals, especially in the rock and roll arena, who greatly affected the music industry.
The first induction ceremony was held on January 23, 1986 in New York and inducted such greats as Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Brown, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, The Everly Brothers, and Fats Domino.
Does anyone know how its possible to get into this event? I've seen no ticket sales, but in NY, everything has it's price! I know theres got to be a way to get inside the Waldorf! Anyone care to join me for a salad in the restaurant? Open to the public, and the Waldorf salad is famous world-wide. Just a thought.... it might be possible to grab an autograph with the multi celeb line-up. Keef! Keef! Keef! Might be able to snap a few pics too.

VAN HALEN's ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction To Air LIVE On VH1 CLASSIC - Mar. 2, 2007
For the first time ever, VH1 Classic will air the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" LIVE on Monday, March 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET. Music fans will get to see and hear VAN HALEN, R.E.M., PATTI SMITH, THE RONETTES, and GRANDMASTER FLASH AND THE FURIOUS FIVE get inducted into this esteemed musical institution as the action and music unfolds.
For the first time, this year's induction ceremony will be telecast live from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on VH1 Classic and MHD: MTV Networks' high-definition music channel on Monday, March 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET. In addition, a special two-hour highlight edition will premiere on VH1 on Saturday, March 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

I am really dissapointed that EVH wont be at the HOF. Sucks that hes in rehab. His drunken stumbling around and disheveled no teeth look would of made for great comedy.
I still have high expectations that Dave, Sammy, the fat bassist and the fat kid bassist will still provide plenty of Spinal Tap moments

Yep, GTRM is meeting me at the Waldorf and I booked a table at the restaurant which gets us in the door, and also access to the bar. Hey you never know who we could bump into, right? Waldorf salad is world famous, it's $9.00 and its really good. I'll order that but GTRM wants KEEF on a silver platter, LMAO! Special order!! Pile him high on the platter!!! |
