sirmoonie I actually got assaulted by a German police dog once. I was passed out drunk in a München underground train station (circa summer, 1983), and this Alsatian put his paws on my chest and starts growling in my face. I woke up and ready to kill, but this goddam dog was huge. And this fucking Hitler Youth polizei was holding it by a leash, talking to me in Kraut, demanding ID. Shades of '42. Shades of The Unknown Soldier. I knew some of the enemy tongue and convinced Üder that my passport was back at the hotel, I was just crashing a bit, and would be on my way. I was really scared the fucking bastard was going to arrest me for trumped up Crime Against The Fatherland and throw me in front of some goddam kangaroo court. Fucker. Looking back now, I should have just kicked his ass and bolted for the border. But I was young, and didn't know any better.

Factory Girl I love German Shephards, they're so smart.

I think dog booties are a European fashion trend.

GotToRollMe That's actually not such a bad idea. I was walking my Great Dane in the vacant lot across from my house one night and he stepped on a piece of glass and sliced open an artery. We had to rush him to the 24-hour animal hospital in Manhattan, bleeding like hell in the back of my friend's truck. Scared the shit outta me.

Just for you, FG!

He's a beast - no wussy shit for my dog!
He LOVES the snow, and for the record - he does NOT wear booties, lol
I would dare anyone to attempt to try slipping them on his paws - ya'll would draw back a stump!

The work dogs needed them at the trade center site and and along the coast. I know I would not walk bare footed in city street. Wonder if they Kevlar the bottoms to protect from needle pricks, that would be very important in drug neighborhoods. Very very good idea.

Parmeda!!

Is that your beautiful pup??? What is his name?

When I lived in Sweet VA, a couple of my neighbors had German Shepherds, and they were the sweetest dogs, very smart.

Now, one of my neighbors also has the best dog (she's a pound rescue)!! She's always at the window, looking out at the world. Before my neighbor adopted her, her prior owners kept the dog in a garage for a year!! So, now she has to have a window!! She is very sweet ans smart. I even gave her a gift doggy bag for Xmas!! She doesn't wear doggie booties either!

I love your dog pics!!

FG!

Hey, Bono - I loved the 3-D show. Are those velcro black booties that you wear? My Gramps has a pair, $9.99 from Payless Shoe Store, his "comfortable" shoes.
