I know this is absolutely Off Topic, and I am very sorry to bother you with this, but it is so important to me, that I can't resist to post it anyway. A dear friend of mine send me the story of her brother who was sentenced to jail, because he defended himself against someone who attacked him with a knife and a metal baton. You can find the story at the link I posted below. You can also sign a petition there.

I took the time to read some of the attached links. It appears that the convicted man ran down the knife-wielding thug with some sort of automobile. I don't know much about UK law, but in the US, self-defense is limited to that type and degree of force that is reasonable under the circumstances. Some jurisdictions also impose a duty to retreat if possible before using deadly force. It appears that this guy was charged with Attempted Murder and negotiated a plea to Assault. He probably wasn't sure a jury would buy a self-defense. |

The next logical step after gun control laws - outlaw any self defense whatsoever. |

Right?!?! Gun control, pfft. I could not live in my nieghborhood without one. The gays and most the Whites in my hood don't beleive in guns, but they sometimes get Robbed, then want to bitch about at the board meetings. I guess I want to keep my investment and stuff, more then they do. |

I played ball against a team from Belmont Heights once....Dereck Bell pitched and Gary Sheffield caught...and their team did this really cool hand and thigh slapping chanting routine during player introductions...us?...we got sent back to the dorm to get the proper equipment...seems little league officials were convinced that boys our age couldn't kick that high while wearing athletic cups

We were 12...he was 6'1 and looked 40...Had we beaten them, we were in the little league world series...instead, they went and got beat by Taiwan who had an infield comprised of 30 year olds |

Actually it was worse than that. The Pittsburgh Pirates forced him out of the game after his "Operation Shutdown".

Thank you so much for everything you have done. Please say thank you to everyone for their support. I am in Scotland have just been to see Dorothy and the children.....very upsetting. However cheered the older boys up when I let them see the Stones websites. Going to see Stephen tomorrow, not looking forward to it. Will put my best glimmer twins face on.
Love and Thanks to All,
Liz

Bell was not a yinzer, nor was he liked by the yinzers. He did add that phrase to the yinzer dialect though. People use that phrase a lot around here.
I was remember him saying something about riding his yaucht off into the sunset during "operation shutdown". It was really funny. |

RollingHansie: Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I've just signed as well. I'm sure (although I am not a lawyer), that the judge simply interpreted the law as best as he could, which is what he has to do, no doubt his sympathy lies with the victim, not the perpetrator.
It is simply the law that has to be changed, as it stands, the human rights of perpetrators seem to weigh in heavier than the human rights of victims, Great Britain is slowly but surely going down the drain, and the majority of decent people's lives are often blighted by the dubious rights of a few. Did you know that inb Glasgow 1 out of 4 people are unemployed, and yet all the "wave of immigrants" somehow manage to find employment????
Thanks to the blind nanny state and the stupidly motivated politicians this is our state of affairs.
Emmigration form, anyone???????? |
