Albert Hall event pays tribute to F1 personalities

Formula 1's own version of the Oscars took
place at the Albert Hall in London, with a long
list of celebrities turning up to party the night
away.
Along with the award ceremony - where winners
were presented with golden figurines known as
'Bernies' - top boogie woogie piano player
Jools Holland entertained the audience with his
Rhythm and Blues Orchestra. Former Soft Cell
lead singer Marc Almond and Faces and Rolling
Stones axe legend Ronnie Wood made special
guest appearances.
Damon Hill's band played a set, as did Eddie
Jordan's group, known as V10. Girl three-piece
Atomic Kitten also performed - although unlike
the other's, they mimed!
Retired TV commentator Murray Walker was
the star of the show. In a mock ceremony, he
officially handed his microphone over to ITV's
new lead commentator James Allen.
The event raised money for the Brain and
Spine Foundation. Here is the full list of award
winners:
Rookie of the Year: Kimi Raikkonen - presented by Martin Brundle to Ron
Dennis
Outstanding contribution to F1 in 2001: Paul Stoddart - presented by Alex
Yoong
Driver of the year: Michael Schumacher - presented by Sir Stirling Moss to
Ross Brawn
Technical Excellence Award: Ross Brawn - presented by Jody Scheckter
Life-time Achievement Award: Sir Frank Williams - presented to Sid
Watkins on his behalf
Spirit of F1: Jean Alesi - presented by Eddie Jordan

Hi,
thanks for the news Moy. Now, to me, it appears more clear
why Eddie Jordan was at Woody's aftershow party on the
Shepherd's Bush night. I got in the club and Eddie was
phoning with his cell behind the door, so i quite hit
him while getting inside... but i'm ready to demonstrate
that it wasn't because of my passion for Ferrari. I
was there for Woody and that's all :-) Infact, Eddie
promptly excused: do you think that behind a door is a cool
place to make a phone call? :-)
Cheers,
Chris |
