Stones scalpers no satisfaction
17feb03
THE Rolling Stones are going to extraordinary lengths to ensure scalpers get no satisfaction when they open their Australian tour tomorrow.
For fans lucky enough to get into the show at the 2000-capacity Enmore Theatre, it isn't just a matter of paying your money and getting the tickets in the mail.
Audience members must front up to the ticket office in Sydney or at the theatre to personally collect their ticket and a special wristband.
They are required to present a photo ID, the credit card used at the time of purchase, and an acknowledgement letter sent out when the tickets were paid for.
At the ticket office today, the non-transferable paper wristband was fastened on site by a staff member who warned people not to take it off "even to have a shower".
Punters were told they would be refused entry if their wristband was tampered with.
The measures were necessary "in order to keep this show for the fans and to especially discourage scalpers and touts," organisers said.
The Enmore concert is the only small-theatre show on the Stones' Forty Licks tour, their first visit to Australia since 1995. It sold out within minutes.
Other concerts will be at Sydney Superdome on February 20 and 22, Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on February 25 and 27 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on March 4.

I guess they are not being sold by scalpers, just by fans without a partner, mostly.
And there are fans that bought multiple memberships.
