hey i got my hands on the 5 DVD set today
must say i am dissapointed
the DVDs do not feature clips, songs, or very much 'band' audio at all
After skimming thru the 80s , 90s and 2000s DVDs they are basically a collection of interview bits and sound bites. Sure it's great to see some footage of fans vibing outside Arenas and it's kinda ok seeing and hearing B. Fowler, M Taylor, Bo Diddley and others crappping on about the Stones...
but..
I was expecting the 5 DVDs to be full of clips, songs, rare concert stuff etc..
There is some footage from Club and Arena Shows from 40 Licks but no real audio..
the back of the DVD boxset also says " this product is not endorsed by the Rolling Stones.."
I guess we have to wait for teh band to release the definitive DVD Box Set of clips etc.

so are you saying that it is NOT worth it?
as in seen it allbefore on other stones doco's
or is this all fresh interviews
or just lame and not worth the trouble

Sergei, I bought it on Amazon but still didn't receive it.
I was expecting lot of not-circulating material from the 60's. I understand is more recent stuff, unfortunately.
Doesn't matter; we must collect everything.

the interview grabs are new i guess, but the whole thing has a 'Behind The Music' doco feel to it
i work in radio in Australia and was sent a copy from a distributor in Sydney who wants us to 'promote' and/or giveaway some copies...
look it is very dissapointing, when i saw it at work i begged and hassled the promotions dept so much, i soooo HAD to have it, then i fired it up and thought sheeeeshh, a lot of STones fans will be dissapointed. It looks like 5 DVDS of the Stones, when in fact it is 5 DVDs of dudes talking about teh Stones etc..
as a fan I guess its kinda ok, but it still stinks of a rip-off. It is NO WAY anything like 25 X 5.
i was hoping to kick back on this Aus Day Long weekend with all the Stones clips etc, instead i guess i will hit the beach.. 42 degrees here today and I live on the coast !!
in better news my tix for show 3 in melb came last night, Sec A in front of B Stage !!

my folks are in Adelaide, i will be over there in March, day after last Stones show in Melb, im bringing my dad over for the shows, he is the same age as Mick, so when he whinges I'm like " dude,look what Mick is doing, get it together !!"

I hear ya! It actually got to 44. I'm melting.... I;m in Oakleigh. Luckily, Mumsy has a pool so me and the kids hightailed there for a dip. I love having sunburnt shoulders (not). So, i'm necking some VB's, the twins are asleep (finally!!!), and reading the posts from the wonderful fans on this site. The wife is watching the male edition of naked news with her mum. By the way, if anyone is up for a beer at the 2nd show in Melb, count me in. |

i work for KRock in Geelong its 95.5 FM
yer the DVD has no clips, just dudes talking about teh Stones.
Look it's kinda ok, i watched more today, it's like a made for TV doco thing, 80s one talks about the band fighting etc, and Kimsey, Andy Johns, Mick Taylor, Nicky Hopkins and others talk about their experiences and stuff.
But there are NO Stones songs or clips, just a few grabs and snippets of them onstage, in the studio etc.
I just think Stones fans should be made aware that it aint the definitive 5 DVD Stones collection we all want.
man .. 42 here today, it was like living in a Pizza Oven !!

Although I'm only going to the third show, I'm gonna try and catch up with Fmk at The Duke some time during that week, might be a good idea to catch up then. Hope you didn't make too much mess at Mumsy's. |

well fmk there's a bit of stones related content (ned kelly) of course - as for culture - isn't it great - australia must be one of the few nations (if not the only one)in the world which has a "cop killer" for a national icon
'tho the question remains did they (the authorities)push him to it - if he'd had had a faitr trial it maybe he had an argument for self-defence
but yes, i think nolan is australia's greatest artist by along way |
