stonedinaustralia i know its hoplelessly old news but i finally got around to watching that DIG doco with the Dandy warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre

i had avoided it as i thought it would be a depressing look at a lot of people fucked up on narcotics - but a couple of friends said that it was mostly funny so i had a look and it was mostly funny

loved the way the BJM gigs routinely descended into chaos and violence but what i didn't and still don't understand is why everbody keeps callign the Antone dude a genius - he may be prolific but all the stuff i heard in the movie sounded pretty much the same and none of it was really that interesting lyrically or musically (to me anyway)and he came across as just another junky/narcissist

also the keyboard player from the Dandy's has a nice chestal area/frontal system - that's what rock and roll needs more of - female musicians prepared to go topless for their art - you know it makes it so much more meaningful!!

pdog Dig depressed me. I think anton is a bit better. Not sure about his drug intake, but I got crazy ass Myspace bulletins fom him... Ive actually been plaing alot of BJM recently.

72Tele I really enjoyed DIG. The guy in BJTM with the muttonchops was a funny guy. As for the music I didnt get it either. It wasn't crap but it was too much trying to sound like 1967. The Dandy's are a very good band who have stood the test of time. Much bigger abroad then here in the USA. I think they opened a few shows for the Stones last summer in Europe.
