Topic: Rolling Stone Mag rates ABB at #2 in top 50 albums of 2005....From Ian Return to archive Page: 1 2 3

IanBillen Well A Bigger Bang was rated as the 2cd best album of the year according to Rolling Stone Magazines top 50 albums of 2005....ah always the brides maid huh. No biggy, Kayne West was at number 1 (what sillyness). Our White Stripes faired in at number three. The article said it was The Stones best album both musically and lyrically in over 20 years. I think for solidity I agree.
A truly remarkable album it is and it keeps getting better, building up steam as the album plays along. As "Oh No Not You Again" comes in in track number 10 the album kicks into high gear and rolls stronger and more hard hitting from this song till the end.

Voodoo Scrounge I would have thought franz ferdinand were up there!

gimmekeef Rolling Stone has long ago lost its relevance and is now pandering to whatever audience it can get. They put West at #1 so they can put his mug on the cover which will sell more copies to the target market. Its why a mag that used to have Thompson and some other great political diggers as the core now uses half nude bimbos like Agulera to sell their mag......sad really...they used to be an important voice...
December 19th, 2005 08:37 AM
Voodoo Scrounge i would prefer to see a half naked agulera rather than a half naked jagger

And thats the name of the first single, not the album; which is How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. The tour was called Vertigo, for perhaps obvious reasons.............

Soldatti GITD ranked #3 on 2001 and even Live Licks got a top 10 place on the RS list last year. Virgin/Cohl must pay to the radios to get the songs played, forget these stupid lists.

Sir Stonesalot You are right about that one Glenny!

It's about 5000 times more now! Maybe even 10,000 times more!!

If Rolling Stone has ABB at #2, then that confirms what I think about the album.

It IS #2. #2 as in poopy.
December 19th, 2005 09:00 PM
glencar #2 as in superb. Jann still has the touch!

SS, you don't like ANYTHING about ABB?

December 19th, 2005 09:05 PM
pdog If Rolling Stones praises it, now I'm convinced it's even worse than we feared!
December 19th, 2005 09:10 PM
glencar Nah, it's better than you think. Don't let Jann or anyone else decide for you.
December 19th, 2005 09:17 PM
Sir Stonesalot >SS, you don't like ANYTHING about ABB?<

Yes indeed, there are things I like about ABB.

I like the last 45 seconds of ONNYA.

I like the minimal production values.

I like that the Rolling Stones are touring behind the album.

I like that Jagger tried to play slide guitar.

I like that because this album begat a tour, I will finally get to give Gypsy a hug.

I like that the NFL is using Stones music in promos...not just songs from ABB, but other songs as well.

I like the cover of ABB.

I like the way Charlie hits them skins on ABB....he plays tough! If only the rest of the band had taken a cue from him....

I'm sure there's some other things, but I just can't think of them right now.
December 19th, 2005 09:18 PM
glencar But no songs otehr than the last 45 seconds of ONNYA?
