GENE SIMMONS: 'Most Entertainers Have Little Qualification To Do Anything Else In Life' - Dec. 16, 2006

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has commented on a ContactMusic.com article which quotes him as saying that he is convinced he and fellow rocker Sir Mick Jagger would have ended up flipping burgers in a fast food restaurant if they hadn't become successful musicians. States Gene in the article, "They'd [ROLLING STONES] probably now be asking you if you want fries with that. That includes Jagger and myself. Classical musicians are real musicians, the rest of us are lazy entertainers who never took time to learn how to play our instruments properly and can't read or write music."
In a posting on his web site, Gene comments: "Not entirely what I meant. While it's true I believe most entertainers have little qualification to do anything else in life, Jagger is a graduate, I'm told, of a London Economic School...and I hold a BA in Education...which meant I taught sixth grade, among other jobs.
"While the article was meant to make a point, and didn't really apply to Jagger or myself, I still stand by the general notion about most entertainers."

'Tis true. Lots of rockers I can imagine would be nothing without their rock stardom. Gallagher bros. for example! Well, actually they'd either be hitmen or strikebreakers or something. Anything allowing them to use their foul tempers and filthy Liverpudlian mouths. |

Wrong. Jagger would have become a succesful businessman for sure. The point is Gene Simmons does not have any talents at all. Even as a musician he is worthless. |

He has a talent for making money and entertaining millions. Whatever else Mick could have done I am sure it would have been totally unremarkable. I can't imagine being so impressed with a performer that I would think otherwise. |

Personally I am not so sure. But then if he isn't onstage I don't really give a fuck about him even if he was walking right in front of my house. Can't say I like riding his nuts so hard that I would still think he was a genius even if he wasn't holding the microphone. |
