CS Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall should learn to speak to each other more often.

Hall was hoping to make it down to Mustique, the Caribbean isle where they've long had a home. All week long, Mustique has been hopping with parties celebrating the 75th birthday of Sir Colin Tennant, who created the jet-set resort, and Basil Charles' fabled Basil's Bar, which is now 25 years old.

Mick Jagger (r.) and Jerry Hall in happier times.

Trouble is, Hall didn't know where to put her new beau, Tim Attias, if her ex was coming.

"Mick kept saying he might make it to Mustique," says a friend. "So Jerry held off. It turned out that Mick had to promote his new CD, so neither one of them made it."

Not to worry. Other friends flew in from as far away as Bali. The party at Basil's was Monday, and everyone dressed in white to join Charles in raising a glass to Tennant, "the madman who bought this mosquito-infested island."

The festivities continued when Charles threw a sarong party Wednesday and a luncheon on Macaroni Beach Friday. Last night, there was a fireworks display.

Says Tennant: "Basil always exceeds expectations."
