Metallica is planning to rock next year's Sundance Film Festival with a new fly-on-the-wall documentary - which they promise is one of the most revealing ever.
The film, Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster, directed by acclaimed filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, is an unflinching look at life inside the world's biggest rock outfit - and addresses some of the Enter Sandman hitmakers' darkest moments.
It features scenes of frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich clashing in the studio and Hetfield's rehabilitation for alcoholism and other addictions.
Among the others involved the film are therapist Phil Towle, who was brought in to help resolve tension in the band, and former Metallica star Dave Mustaine, who talks candidly about his sacking from the group in 1983.
The group also deals with the exit of longtime bassist Jason Newsted, who quit in 2001, and is also featured in the movie.
