Bought beer, wine, crisps, frozen pizza�s, cigarettes and told my �friends� I�m out of town.
AND NOW...
I�m gonna watch 4 flicks which I bought today.
Best 60 euros I�ve spend in a long time.

well,
when i go out drinking I like the basic stuff;
heineken, amstel, grolsch, lager basically.
heinken & amstel taste pretty much the same as bud, kronenbourgh, fosters etc.
but heineken in holland tastes different then anywhere else in the world. (think it has to do with the water)
grolsch is a bit more special. bit "heavier" and a bit more character.
try to avoid oranjeboom. it's good to drink, but a lot of people get a headache from it.
though usually you get in a bar and order "a beer" and they give you whatever lager they have on draft.
other than that you have a lot of belgium beers in holland.
i always avoid the fruit shit, but you might like it.
definitely try "duvel" (devil).
we have some nice white beers; "wiekse witte" for example.
whichever beer you want;
if you can get it on draft then go for that instead of bottles.
remeber that it's not because you're a foreigner that they do not put the glasses in a dishwasher, but rinse them in the sink
oh, and don't forget to taste "jenver". (it' the dutch gin)

Love the windmills! But they're definitely for tourists. Thanks for the lesson. I had soem smashing Belgian beers last trip but of course I can't remember them. I always forget the important stuff while remembering the trivial. |
