I was thinking of Factory Girl, Gazza.

On a whole tour note, i may add that it is great to finally see the back of Miss You - although it was great back on the 97' St Louis video. I may be wrong, but i don't reckon they've played it on this leg

Factory Girl was indeed played on the BTB tour - I think they did it at Giants Stadium in 1997. I think it was one of the webcast selections.

It was also played in Europe in 1990. Theres a version of it from Wembley on "Flashpoint". Great one, too.

"Miss you" was dropped in favour of "Under my thumb" on the opening night of the current American leg of the tour in Foxboro, but like a dose of smegma that wont go away, it made an unwelcome return at the next show in Halifax. It has been subsequently played at mostly 'virgin' shows such as Louisville, Missoula and Regina #1. Hasnt been played at any of the seven shows since.

charlotte you are a good man gazza, I thought the Giants 97 was a webcast selection...even though the Boss was responsible for Manchester's defeat

glencar At the time I didn't raelly care for Factory Girl but I was into warhorses back then!

the whole webcast thing was a farce! I hope no one believed that every night they played what everyone voted! Oh surprise, waiting on a friend, aaaaaaaaand a guest come on

Gazza seems so long ago, but I think by hook or by crook they got through pretty much all of them at least once

or the night when Mick started singing Star Star in the IORR two-slot, only to realize the mistake and shift back to the IORR lyrics

and then *Surprise* Star Star wins the final vote tally at the internet segment

At the start it WAS pretty legit. Its not they claimed they hadnt rehearsed all these songs or anything, but they would be informed what the 'choice' was maybe an hour or so before showtime

With the one youre referring to, they had obviously decided on WOAF for the PPV show in St louis as they had already invited Josh Redman along. If I remember right, the song that led by miles in the vote for that show was Starfucker, due to an internet campaign by mischievous fans to get them to swear repeatedly on live TV.

By the time they got to 1998, some nights the webvote was ignored altogether and other nights they doctored it to suit themselves. There WAS considerable abuse of the system though, with some fans maybe voting a couple of hundred times for their favourite song, which didnt exactly make things easier.

Saint Sway I'm guilty as charged Gazza.

I remember making everyone in my office vote 100+ times each for Memory Motel for a show i was going to
3rd November 2006 03:30 PM
glencar I used to vote early & often. That was the first tour where I went to several shows.

speedfreakjive I just can't get my head around the ommissions of the likes of

1. Casino Boogie
2. Slave - as playable as an instrumental type song as CYHMK
3. Tops - could be played with piano as Taylors part

Saint Sway its strange how they can go on autopilot for so long then suddenly deliver inspired sets and performances.

I guess it all has to do with them being filmed since the same thing happened for the Stripped shows in 95

kinda sad though that no matter how much money they're making off of ticket sales they never waver from the set lists, but as soon as the cameras are brought in they bunker down in rehearsals and dig out some great rarities

I know this band could pull off these types of shows all the time

I stuffed the vote for it for the 1st Philly show, which was like the 2nd or 3rd show of the tour

I got stuck with it at 3 or 4 more shows and missed out on hearing all the other rarities

karma

Ha! I must of done something good between tours

that Wong story still cracks me up. Nothing will beat that. That will live in infamy! I thought I was seriously fucked when I got to the fake I.D. store and called the ticket guy for the name and he gave me a Mexican name.

"Martinez" was laughable, but I could work with it. But "Wong"? No chance. Gotta admire set of the balls on TomL!!

they played "Tops" at a few shows early on in the 1981 tour, as far as I can recall

I think 'Casino Boogie' got to the rehearsal stage for 'Steel wheels' (if my memory is right, you can see it in a list of songs being rehearsed in the 'Mixed emotions' video) but never made the cut
