Topic: Queen to tour with Paul Rodgers on Vox Return to archive
December 14th, 2004 09:12 AM
UGot2Rollme former Bad Company lead to sing Freddy Mercury's parts - can you imagine? Bohemian Rhapsody by the singer of Feel Like Makin' Love... this must be some sort of hoax?? but no, here's the confirmation from Queen's website:
----------------------------
QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS TOUR
QOL can confirm the rumours and now endorse both Roger and Brian's comments in regards to the Queen + Paul Rodgers Tour.

The tour is official and will take place in the Spring of 2005 across mainland Europe and the UK. The show will consist of both Queen and Paul Rodgers material.

Come on, it's not like Rodgers will replace Freddie Mercury.
Queen were the first band I went completely nuts for And everytime the discussion comes to them, I go crazy trying to tell people (cause most seem to ignore the fact) that Queen were so much more than "Radio Ga Ga" or "I want to break free". Their first albums and their whole seventies period was full of musical experimentations, amazing vocals, strong guitars (and so special - the damn guitar is home-made baby ), powerful drums and intelligent bass. So damn it, the band kicked ass in the seventies

But that's not the point. I've always wanted to see May-Taylor-Deacon go on post 1991, cause hey, they were good together and their solo attempts were never as good as their teamwork (that tends to happen a lot, doesn't it?).

Now, a reunion with Rodgers, why not. Might be cause they have the need to go on the road, might be for the money. So what? I don't think we can come up with a huge list of musicians who don't count the money factor at all.

And it might offer me a chance to actually catch them live. It's not the real thing, but it comes close. I'd change the name, if I were them. (Just like the Who should... ).

F505 sorry but I think Queen is the worst band that has ever has walked on this globe: pompous, swollen, macho and musically spoken zero.

Joey

" Open up your mind and let me step inside
Rest your weary head and let your heart decide
It’s so easy when you know the rules
It’s so easy all you have to do
Is fall in love
Play the game
Ev’rybody play the game of love

When you’re feelin’ down and your resistance is low
Light another cigarette and let yourself go
This is your life
Don’t play hard to get
It’s a free world
All you have to do is fall in love
Play the game ev’ryone play the game of love

My game of love has just begun
Love runs from my head down to my toes
My love is pumping through my veins (play the game)
Driving me insane
Come come come come play the game play the game play
The game play the game

Play the game everybody play the game of love

This is your life - don’t play hard to get
It’s a free free world all you have to do is fall in love
Play the game yeah play the game of love
Your life - don’t play hard to get
It’s a free free world all you have to do is fall in love
Play the game - ev’rybody play the game... ( Fade to Baby Steelie ) "

Hannalee It'll be interesting to see what sort of setlist they come up with - whether they'll carry on where Freddie left off or tailor it to Rodgers' range and style. I'd like to hear some of the ones that were never (well, hardly ever!) done live.

Anyway, I'm going! Now where's my fanclub renewal form...

You're right egon, I can hardly make any sense of their doings with Five!!!

But as said, despite those random crises of pure stupidity, I still think May's one of the best guitarists around, and I still have this damn connection with their music.

It's all a matter of taste I suppose, but F505, they did have an important musical contribution, I think you're slightly over-reacting here.

One Joey one goal one mission,
One heart one soul just one solution,
One flash of light yeah one god one vision

One flesh one bone,
One true religion,
One voice one hope,
One real decision,
Wowowowo gimme one vision

No wrong no right,
I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white,
No blood no stain,
All we need is one world wide vision

One flesh one bone,
One true religion,
One voice one hope,
One real decision,
Wowowowowowo

I had a dream,
When I was young,
A dream of sweet illusion,
A glimpse of hope and unity,
And visions of one sweet union,
But a cold wind blows,
And a dark rain falls,
And in my heart it shows,
Look what they've done to my dream

Vision,
Give me your hands,
Give me your hearts,
I'm ready,
There's only one direction,
One world and one nation,
Yeah one vision

No hate no fight,
Just excitation,
All through the night,
It's a celebration wowowowo yeah

One one one

One flesh one bone,
One true religion,
One voice one hope,
One real decision

Gimme one night,
Gimme one hope,
Just gimme,
One man one man,
One bar one night,
One day hey hey,
Just gimme gimme gimme
FRIED CHICKEN!!!!!

THANK YOU! Brian May was a fucking amazing guitarist. i wish I had any reason to believe he could still play (even the 10 years before Freddie died he rarely did anything impressive).
Deacon was good, I'll give him that, but him not being there wouldn't bother me at all.

Riffhard Queen were always much bigger in the UK and Europe than they ever were in the States. That may be why they are staying on that side of the pond. Bad Co on the other hand had a huge run in 1970's here. I just can't wrap my brain around Paul Rogers singing Killer Queen though. He has a great voice, but it is polarly opposite of Freddy Mercury's.

Soldatti They did one of the best songs of all time for me, not Bohemian Rhapsody...THE SHOW MUST GO ON, the tune is a damm classic, I can't belive how Freddie sang something like this when he was dying, amazing...

Queen
Innuendo (1991)
The Show Must Go On

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for...
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore
The show must go on,
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.
Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in
On - with the show -
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...
