seclusion Devil's Advocate? Didn't like it. Al Pacino should have been shot doing that movie. He's way above that.

I agree, I thought both the movie and Al's performance were great.

Mr. D "Devil's Advocate" kind of started a down trend for Al Pacino. He started to take really bad roles, but he was great in that "Angels in America" series. And he's playing Shylock in a film version of "The Merchant of Venice". Btw, I've always found that whole "pound of flesh, but not a drop of blood" thing to be kind of lame. I mean, even Johny Cochran couldn't get that one past a lawyer...or Jackie Chiles for that manner.

Movie was okay, but Pacino proved yet again why he's a top notch actor in the showcase scenes. "I'm a fan of man!" and "We're the new priesthood, baby" were delivered classically.

nankerphelge I thought Pacino did a hell of a job in Devil's Advocate.

Now Scent of a Woman -- that one stunk like Joey's ass after a cheesecake frenzy!

Nah, nah. He has one much, much worse. Came out a couple of years ago. It was some movie in which he created a movie star. I forgot the name of it -- the title is a woman's name, but I can't think of it right now.

Very, very bad.
December 14th, 2004 09:16 PM
Gimme Shelter Simone was the name of that one. I haven't seen it but I know it didn't last long in theaters.
December 14th, 2004 09:20 PM
Gimme Shelter Al has made some great flicks:

Godfather series
Donnie Brasco
Devil's Advocate
Scarface
Carlito's Way
Sea Of Love
Heat
Serpico
Dog Day Afternoon

Prodigal Son Don't forget Glengary Glen Ross, The Insider and Any Given Sunday. Three underrated Pacino movies.

No, no, no... You MUST watch this movie. I don't know what "hot" means to you, but this movie is the best brazilian movie that i'd ever seen.
Btw, if you wanna a really hot movie, try with Irreversible.
December 15th, 2004 08:51 AM
marko Insider was fantastic,,,i think Pacino did great work on
devils advocate,but movie,itself,directing&script was just
very average.
Insomnia was better as an movie.
December 15th, 2004 10:59 AM
Jair Thanks for the tip, Madafaka. I will try.

I think the best Pacino movie is Scarface, though old.
Carlito's Way is cool too.

egon lately pacino is playing the same role over and over again. that of a tired old guy, losing touch with... (whatever the subject of the movie is)
December 15th, 2004 12:12 PM
Jair Yes, lately he seems tired and doing bad stuff, what is a shame. I love him, with De Niro and Marlon Brando.

The holy trinity of US cinema.
