Nellcote Padre; How is Buffalo Nickel, his 2nd lp?
December 10th, 2004 12:07 PM
padre It's not bad, but does not hold up to Songs For... which is almost a perfect rock'n'roll album. It doesn't rock as hard. A bit too much Neil Young and too little Chuck Berry for my taste. Some great moments, but if SFTHI was Dan's Sticky Fingers, BN is his Voodoo Lounge. Or Goats Head Soup.
But if you dig The Yayhoos' Fear Not The Obvious, you're gonna love Buffalo Nickel. Have you heard the live album by Dan Baird and the Sofa Kings (from year 2000) called Redneck Savant?
December 10th, 2004 01:03 PM
Nellcote Thanks for the 411. Not caught the live album, however, do recall searching this out once, was it released only in Europe?
December 10th, 2004 01:21 PM
padre The live could be an European-only album, at least the record company is German. Damn hard to find that disc, if you see one, get it fast. You won't see another in a while.
Do you have any Satellites' or Dan Baird's shows for a trade? I've got one from G.S. if you're interested.
