Does anyone know if SM are going to release this?
It's New York 25/07/1972 second show (last of the Tour). I have some MP3 samples and the sound is as good as LA 1st & 2nd and nearly as good as Charlotte 1972 (which IMO is the best audience rec. from the tour) !!!!
Does anyone have any info about the whereabouts of this show???? Word is SM have had the recording for over 3 years....???!!!!
Thanks,
Frustrated Stonefarker... |

I know I just received a smoking source from 72 MSG. I don't remember the date offhand, but I thought I remember reading it was the last of the tour... |

riccardo - thanks for prompting me to check my sources...
I was totally wrong, so I apologize for misleading anybody...
the lowgen source I just received from MSG is from the last week of the 1969 tour...

Notes:
This show is from the last week of the bands 1969 US tour, just a few days before Altamont. The playing is tight throughout and this concert is one of their best live performances ever featuring Mick Taylor who was in the band for just four months but whose playing is phenomenal already. The backing tracks of several songs (incl. Jumpin Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Women) were used on the "Get Yer Ya-Yas Out album" which features material from all three MSG performances.

Sister Morphine never had any intention of releasing this
disc. It was all to hype their "label" |

Really?
Well a tape must exist then of this show as I have 3 MP3 samples from the concert and it sounds great - does anyone have this on tape?? |
|
jb |
Is this soundboard quality? |
|
Joey |
I only listen to Soundboards ! |
|
jb |
Me too...does the Who and or Steelie Dan have soundboard boots? |
|
glencar |
Can we drop the Steely Dan talk please? |
|
mac_daddy |
Joey and JB - I implore you to listen to some good AUD sources - a well done AUD can sound better than most SBDs. The 2003 Budokan show is a perfect example of this...
btw, I just got two fresh 74 Steely sbds... "Metal Leg" is the boot title, I think...

Source: "Theyre Really Rockin In Boston" (VGP-020, Vinyl Gang Product)
Gen: Silver disc > CDR > wav (EAC) > shn (mkw)
Quality: very good audience (8.0)
Notes:
This legendary show started four hours late because Mick and Keith were arrested earlier that day for assaulting a newspaper photographer (there are variuos comments about the same from the stage). Nevertheless, the performance is solid and the patient crowd gets rewarded with a rare "Honky Tonk Women" encore.
The sound is clear, slightly marred by the arena acoustics but very good overall.
