Saint Sway Sounds like a cool gig. Jet played a show in LA last night. Had some top-notch guests.... the Sex Pistols Steve Jones, the Black Crowes Chris Robinson and, of course, its not an LA jam without Slash - who played on Salt of The Earth. Robinson did some Faces covers.

this is the full report from Jet's official myspace page....

-------

Jet performed a special show at their favourite LA club, Spaceland, on Sunday evening to a sold out room full of fans and friends, and are happy to report they had an absoloute whale of a time. Playing a mixture of songs from Get Born and Shine On with an emphaisis on numbers that haven't seen the light of day for a while - such as Radio Song, Timothy, and Come Around Again to name but a few - it was a fantastic night. The band were joined on stage by the fabulous Waters Sisters (who sang on the Shine On album) who lent their incredible vocal talents to Shine On and All You Have To Do, before the stage became nothing short of the band's own version of the Make A Wish Foundation.

Stepping up first, one of rock's true greats, Slash took to the stage for a killer run through the Stones' Salt Of The Earth, Les Paul in hand, cig in mouth, and guitar work to make your eyes water. Next up, Black Crowes soul man, Mr Chris Robinson sauntered on and blew everybody's mind with his amazing vocals in Be My Baby, before taking it to an ever higher plane with a cracking take on The Faces Miss Judy's Farm - and if that's not enough for ya, the band was also joined by yet another of the true greats, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols. The man can play, let there be no doubt.

For the final song, the stage was packed full across the front as Slash rejoined the party and the entire ensemble - Jet, Slash, Jonesy and Chris Robinson - led the room in one of the finest versions of Ooh La La you're ever likely to hear this side of...well...the original.

Jet would like to thank all their fans and friends who were at the show, and especially the incredible talents of Slash, Steve Jones, Chris Robinson and the Waters Sisters for making the night one of the highlights of their live career. Viva Le Rock!

On January 22, 2003, Jet played their very first U.S. show at the 260-capacity club Spaceland in Los Angeles. And nearly four years and a couple million album sales later, the Australian rockers returned to the venue that gave them their American start--although this time, they brought a few high-profile friends with them.

Jet started last night's intimate, semi-acoustic Spaceland show on their own, performing Get Born hits like "Move On," "Are You Gonna Be My Girl," and "Look What You Done" as well as songs off their sophomore CD, Shine On, like "King's Horses," "Shiny Magazine," and "All You Have To Do."

Midway through their set they were joined by their first special guests, soul singers the Waters Sisters, who sang backup on Shine On (and, as Jet drummer Chris Cester proudly pointed out to the audience, also appeared on Michael Jackson's Thriller back in the day).

The Waters Sisters' mighty vocals garnered great applause from the Spaceland audience, but it was the emergence of former Guns N' Roses axeman Slash--resplendent in his backwards baseball cap, trademark bushy locks, and KISS T-shirt--that elicited the craziest crowd reaction of the night. Spectators' camera phones went into overdrive as Slash lent his signature, stadium-worthy guitar licks to Jet's cover of the Rolling Stones ballad "Salt Of The Earth."

Next up was the Black Crowes' Chris Robinson, who further thrilled the crowd with his medley of the Jet original "Eleanor" and the Ronettes' hit "Be My Baby." A second Robinson guest spot--with the added star power of Sex Pistols guitarist/beloved local Jonesy's Jukebox DJ Steve Jones--on the Faces classic "Miss Judy's Farm" was another unexpected treat.

The very special allstar evening ended with Jet, Slash, Robinson, and Jones joyously jamming on another Faces tune, "Ooh La La." It was a star-powered finale that proved just how far Jet have come since their humble first Spaceland gig in January '03.

mrhipfl Is their new album any good? Or is it just more rip-offs like the first one?

I only gave their new album a once thru listen and it did nothing for me. Sounded too slick/forced. Never bothered to give it a second spin. The 1st record aint all that, but at least they were trying to rip off the right bands/songs. It just came off sounding too obvious.

I think their live dvd is cool though. Like the way it was shot and it gives you a feel of what their like live - they've got a bit more raw/sloppy/gritty/sweaty sound and style going live than they do on cd. I dig that.

would of been cool to see them doing Salt of the Earth, Miss Judys Farm & Ooh La La with Chris, Slash & Steve Fuckin Jones
