QUESTION FOR GUITAR PLAYERS ON THE HENDRIX CLIP VOODOO POSTED A FEW BACK:

Does anyopne know what chord position Hendrix is using at 2:13 of this clip? To me, it clearly sounds like the E augmented 9th but Jimi's hand is up in the open position. That makes sense as he sometimes made the E aug 9th by playing the E chord with the pinky on the third fret of the B & high E strings - but Jimi's hand doesn't seem to be in that position when you can see it at 2:13. It seems to be in more of an A position with only the index finger on the fretboard. And the guitar is clearly in standard tuning. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd swear that he's in open-E. You can hear him tuning up at the very beginning of the clip.

Taptrick MEL BELLI:

You might be right about the Hendrix guitar. I was just convinced he was in standard because he's using so many of the standard blues riffs like from Voodoo Child. I have'nt messed around with Open E a whole lot other than attempting some Richie Havens stuff. Does anyone know what the E augmented 9th chord looks like in Open E? I could look it up but I'm just pressed for time now. Thanks.

Taptrick COOL BREEZE is my favorite Chcuk Berry song ! Awesome even with the lip sync. Chuck was a songwriter, singer, guitar player, performer, choreographer, dancer - he weaved it all together. I've been cranking this song every morning for about two months on my way to work during the long drive to Edwards Air Force Base. It's great to sing to flying down the highway.

There is the obvious similarity to Come Together. So much so that Lennon was successfully sued by Berry's record company or someone similar. But what really strikes me is the similarity in lyric structure to Ventilator Blues. Both use the tactic of stopping a line in the middle of the lyric and then picking up the lyric at the start of the next line. Ventlator is slower but you can really interchange the words of Ventilator over the top of Cool Breeze.

Geesh, that sucks. I guess that is when
they performed in Statesboro, GA, which
is too far South, even for me.

Nellcote! I've been looking for that clip for ages! I'd taped it on VHS the night it was broadcast, but I lost the best part - Nicholson presenting him with the Grammy and the acceptance speech! Funny shit!

This is classic. Seems like Jack always gets the Dylan gig, he had it at Live Aid also. Those pauses of Bob really make the cut...

A pretty funky version, very much like how The Stones are doing now.
I don't think it's that bad, for what it is.
