I have no idea of who or what this 'Hawthorne' is, but I fully approve of your 'counter strike'.

RollingstonesUSA THANKS A MANY!, DRINKS ON ME!!!!,LOL
December 6th, 2005 06:58 PM
Dan I have no idea who or what Hawthorne is either but this reminds me of something totally unrelated, other than the stickers - my friend found a roll of stickers with the Grammy logo and "Nominated For 4 Grammy Awards." He would go around music stores sticking them on his favorite CDs.

sirmoonie You need eggs at the ready for these incidents. Eggs can say it all, when appropriately placed.

So he said they suck ass but yet he knew a song off of their new album was them. Guess the boys have still got it. Either that, or something's fishy. You were also quite the rebel puting stickers on his car, by the way. Hmm...

Child of the Moon Emo... what a scourge, that brand of "music." I can't wait until it goes away for good. I'm ashamed to admit the fact that I've actually associated with kids who ally themelves with the emo cause. It won't happend again, I swear.

Excellent work, by the way.

RollingstonesUSA Does anybody else have a story like this,lol....
December 7th, 2005 09:02 AM
Navin

HAWTHORNE EFFECT. Initial improvement in a process of production caused by the
obtrusive observation of that process.

The Hawthorne effect - an increase in worker productivity produced by the
psychological stimulus of being singled out and made to feel important.

Proponents of the Hawthorne effect say that people who are singled out for a study of any kind may improve their performance or behavior not because of any specific condition being tested, but simply because of all the attention they receive.

FPM C10 That's my question. It's like dork rock, right?

I do like Eno.

Your story seems like a waste of good Stones stickers. His ignorance is its own punishment.

scratched OK, now I know:

http://www.fourfa.com/styles/index.htm

"...a guitar-oriented, midtempo rock-based sound with emotional punk vocals (i.e., no posed soulful crooning like pop music). The central aspect here is the guitars - distorted, strummed mostly in duo unison, with occasional catchy riff highlights. This becomes known as the classic "D.C. sound," along with the octave chords that show up in later "emo" music. Later bands bring in more pop elements, like catchy-riff based songs, pop song structures (listen to Jawbreaker's "Chesterfield King" to illustrate this), and less-punk, more-smoothly-sung high-register singing (less yelling, straining, throatiness). Listen to Elliot or Chamberlain for an example of how alternative-pop this music has become. Yet those bands are undeniably still emocore. Also note most emocore bands play Gibson Les Paul guitars, with a few SGs, and use mostly Marshall JCM-800 amps."
