Jaxx with the help of mac, i put together a torrent info page found here:
http://www.rocksoff.org/torrentinfo.htm. the link can also be found in the header by clicking on BIT TORRENT HELP
the page includes:
links to get the free software necessary to get the torrent
step by step on how to download a torrent,
converting the torrent
burning the torrent
other sites you can find torrents

i put this page together as i struggled with my own downloading issues. thanks to gazza and mac for their patience with me.

Schooner333 Nice page Jaxx, good work. Here's just a few extra things for users.

-EAC is a fabulous program (the best for ripping), and also does a great job of burning, but it will not burn from Flac files, only from Wav files. To convert from Flac to Wav use FLAC Frontend: http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

-Nero will also burn directly from Flac files, and another good program (what I use)that will do this is Burrrn. You can find it here: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/burrrn.html
or here: http://www.burrrn.net/

-For people using Winamp, there is a Flac plugin that you can download from Winamp.com that will allow you to play Flac files in Winamp.

-I've used Azureus for over a year, I tried many other BitTorrent clients, but always came back to Azureus....until I tried µTorrent, which I've been using for about a month now...I'm sold on this one. Here's some info: http://chris.pirillo.com/blog/_archives/2005/10/18/1309140.html
and a download link: http://www.utorrent.com/

-And last, for people wanting to create torrents, here's some info I posted earlier:

Audio: http://novogate.com/board/968/Archives/11%2D21%2D2005/217975-1.html

DVD: http://novogate.com/board/968/Archives/11%2D24%2D2005/217984-1.html

Don't panic yet! lol... In utorrent click- options - preferences - folder options. Now in the box where it says "put new downloads in", this will show the folder where your downloads are going to. I just create a folder on my desktop named "TORRENTS" and set that as the default folder, and all downloads will go there. I also set the same folder for "store .torrent files in".

Hey, at least you got something downloaded (I hope), that's a start. If you have more questions, send me a PM, I'll be glad to try and help you along if I can.

gimmekeef Schooner and all....it worked!...its amazing the quality difference and thanks for all your help..Hope I can be a contributor soon rather than just a downloader. It was weird how my downloads went as high as 80 then hit mid twenties and then sometimes almost stopped....?But I got the files and used Nero to burn em in a Jumpin Jack Flash!

as of yet, i have heard of no one getting into trouble for downloading torrents. no one from the rolling stones legal team has contacted us to tell us to stop it. we are just sharing the music. no one is profiting from any of this.

Flairville Hi! I need some help with seeding. I'm trying to upload disc 2 of Hampton 81 dvd. I've got it on the tracker and it says upload successful. I can't however get it to open with Azureus as a seed. It's in my download section but nothings uploading. I don't know what's wrong 'cos I uploaded disk 1 fine. Please help cos hundreds of people have got disc 1 and love it, so they're waiting for the 2nd disk! Ben.

A little too less of information...
When you download your own torrent to get it started Azureus should get this torrent into checking-mode. This might last a few minutes until the checking has completed with 100%. So what is Azureus saying? Maybe it stopped at 99,9% ? If so, you may have changed the info-file or whatever in your upload-directory and now Azureus can't complete - so you will never get into seeding status.
In case that happened you will have to delete the created torrent-file and create a new one and start all over.

hope that helps

Flairville I followed the instructions as detailed on the dvd section of how to upload a disc on the information page here at Rocks off. I used DVD fabdecrypter and it all worked fine. then I used maketorrent V.2 and that was fine. It is on the tracker but on Azureus its trying to download it rather than upload it. Is that any clearer? Sorry if it isn't.
December 7th, 2005 06:12 AM
Flairville just got this;

Resource added: C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop\Rolling Stones Hampton 81 DVD2
Adding file 'C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop\Rolling Stones Hampton 81 DVD2.torrent'
Creating torrent for 'C:\Documents and Settings\Ben\Desktop\Rolling Stones Hampton 81 DVD2.torrent'
ShareManager: Tracker must be configured, ShareResource: Torrent create failed
December 7th, 2005 08:37 AM
sympa33 after creating your torrent, myself i use (Maketorrent 2)
don't click on it. go on rocks off bit torrent page and click on it there. and then it should show 100% on your bittorrent downloader such as bitcomet or azurus. small detail but if not done the torrent won't ash.
December 7th, 2005 08:40 AM
sympa33 after you upload a file on the tracker you should see it and then and only then you click on it to start download
and then it should ash
December 7th, 2005 09:11 AM
sympa33 hope it's clear

in short don't click on the torrent file before you upload
it on the tracker . send me an email if got problem i'll be around today

When trying to seed a torrent with Azureus (or any client), you must direct the client to your "torrent folder". It will then check to see how much you have completed (as if you were downloading) which will turn out to be 100%, then it will start to seed. It souds as if Azureus was never directed to your "torrent folder" when asked where to save the download...so it is trying to download the torrent from the tracker, which is impossible since it has never been seeded (by you) to begin with. "Azureus has a setting for a default "save" folder....in other words, where to put all the torrents you download. If your "torrent folder" was within this default "save" folder then Azureus would see it, check it (see that you have 100%) then start seeding. If your "torrent folder" is not within this default "save" folder then you should use the option - Add Torrent (no default save), then add the torrent file you created with MakeTorrent2...it will ask where to save the download...direct it to your "torrent folder"...it should check, then start seeding.

OR....

To seed, In Azureus, click: File > Open > Torrent File... (for seeding), and direct it to your .torrent file and click open. Next it will ask you to "Choose The Save Path", so direct it to your torrent folder (the one which contains the video_ts folder, and which you created your .torrent file from) and click OK.
