Ten Thousand Motels Rodney King Shot
November 29, 2007
KNBC.com

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Southern California police said 1991 police beating victim Rodney King has been shot, but the wounds are not life-threatening.

Rialto police Sgt. Don Lewis told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that King was hit in the face and arm by shotgun pellets on a San Bernardino street corner Wednesday night. He bicycled to his home in Rialto to call police and was taken to a hospital.

Police said when they arrived at the home, King and others there appeared drunk and few were cooperative in providing information.

San Bernardino police Lt. Scott Paterson tells the San Bernardino County Sun that the shooting may have involved a domestic dispute.

King was beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991 and the officers' subsequent acquittal on criminal charges sparked deadly rioting in 1992.

LOL! Are you fucking kidding?! All of his problems were self inflicted including the beat down that he received. When you elude cops while driving through residential neighborhoods at speeds topping 100 mph you'd better know that the cops are gonna be furious, and rightfully so! Yes they over reacted, but to suggest that this asshole is a poor innocent victim is absurd and naive in the extreme.

You're right. He's had it bad, but that's only because he has chosen to live the life of a street thug and drug abusing asshole with zero accountability to anyone. Fuck him. He was pissed drunk and uncoopperative with authorities last night with details of the shooting.

one thing i think i do know....he's a sensitive fellow.

29th November 2007 09:52 PM
SweetVirginia Well, he believes in the power and potential of the individual. And he doesn't think a citizen needs the government to make him/her successful or tell him/her what to do. And he believes in personal responsibility. None of it smacks of insensitivity to me.

Anyway.... as you are about to see, Riffy doesn't need me to defend him.

Riffhard Thank you for those kind words SV! I could not have stated it any better. If we could cook conservatism down in a spoon and that is excactly what you would get! Spot on!

However, as I have been somewhat called out here I will gladly respond. FOTP here's the deal. You seemingly implied that Rodney King is a victim of an overzealous police force and deserving of our sympathy. Now had this been an Abner Louima case I would certainly agree with you, but this is clearly not the case with regards to Rodney King. This guy is a carreer criminal with an extensive rap sheet. He was driving through residential streets while fucked up out of his mind in excess of 100 mph with multiple police cruisers in pursuit for over forty five minutes.

He was pissed drunk, and under the influence of narcotics at the time of his arrest. The police, being human, were quite understandably pissed that this idiot put not only his own life in danger, but theirs, as well as everyone that had to avoid the highspeed drunken/stoned chase. He got his ass beat for refusing to follow police orders after they had pulled him over. They, in the heat of the moment, let their rage take over. Not very professional to be sure, but given the circumstances somewhat understandable.

Now I am a man that calls them as I see them, and in this case I needn't look to hard to find the common sense reality of this particular situation that has seemingly evaded you. [But] if you want to feel sorry for this self destrucive and irresponsible asshat have at it. I will just sit back and shake my head in bemused wonderment. Afterall, I'm a demi god.

Do you half hail a demi god?

I don't feel sorry for King and agree that anyone with an ounce of common sense should know better than to fuck with the police. But it's a little thing known as individual rights that some people feel sorry for and worry about when that kind of thing happens. Hate to point this out, but those rights apply to all, the Abner Louimas and the destructive and irresponsible asshats alike. That's the point to be made about the King thing, if they don't cover one, then they should cover none. It's easy to not give a damn when it's someone we think deserved it or "should've known better", but wait until the undeserving get their licks and see how we howl.

Go ahead and piss on the "liberal" idea of rights, I'm ready for it. But, believe me, the most conservative, let the police crack some skulls, fry them little piggies for what they done mentality is going to scream just as loudly about his rights as the bleeding hearts and the junkies the moment the police unjustly lay a hand of him.

Shockingly as you may find this I agree with you. My point was that I don't feel sorry for Rodney King because he is the kind of person that would naturally find himself receiving a beatdown for allowing himself to be put in the situation that he, himself, created. It has absolutly nothing to do with race, ethnicity,or any other reason beyond his obvious stupidity.

I do agree that the cops overreacted, but I also know that these same cops are human too, and they were rightfully furious at this idiot for the danger that he caused. Having said that, I fully respect, and honor everyone's individual rights. Even an "asshat" like Rodney King. Hell, I'm a conservative. We're all about individual rights. So while I may respect his rights I still have very little sympathy for the moron.

I think it's fairly safe to say that you, and I, are simpatico on this issue judging by your post.
