Soldatti JAY-Z TIES ROLLING STONES WITH NINTH US NUMBER ONE

Movie & Entertainment News provided by World Entertainment News Network (www.wenn.com)
2006-11-29 21:06:17 -

Rap mogul SHAWN 'JAY-Z' CARTER has reclaimed his crown at the top of the US album charts but sales of his comeback album KINGDOM COME fell just short of the 700,000 estimate.
The album opened with 680,000 copies sold, giving Jay-Z his biggest sales week ever and the biggest of 2006 by any artist.
It's the ninth time he has hit the top of the US charts - a statistic that ties with THE ROLLING STONES for the third most number ones.
Only THE BEATLES (19) and ELVIS PRESLEY (10) have had more chart-topping albums.

the thing I cant figure out is that all the rappers leak their records for download before the release and yet they still manage to sell millons of records once they come out

Dylan's last album is a success, yet he sold the same amount of copies in 14 weeks than Jaz Z this week alone.

fna69 At least it's a rapper who actually has skills. Rather him than Young Jeezy or Bow Wow. Rock music is just in a sad state these days. People ingore the good stuff, and put the shit stuff in the mainstream. ALl this EMO music is pure shit and is just a bunch of whining kids in their early 20's screaming about a girl who broke their heart. I'd take a Jay-Z cd anyday over that crap.

Honky Tonk Man The likes of Jay Z, Snoop Dog, P Diddy etc are big here in the UK, but the US? Boy, you guys dig this stuff a lot I think. I don't miond some of it. I'm not head over heels about any of it, but there are a few okay tunes.

I don't think Jay Z's new one was released 'till last Monnday. Either that, or it did'nt chart! Westlife at No 1 aside, our chart actually sems healthy enough, Oasis at no 2, Beatles at 3, U2 are there somewhere.

Honky Tonk Man I'm a little late with this. Lets give Jay Z a little credit at least. He sleeps with Beyonce and STILL manages to get out of bed!
