Topic: One songs, two bassists? Return to archive

Jair Check the ABB booklet. Its written there who plays bass is Mick Jagger and Darryl Jones.

I know about a song - brazilian - in which the producer played a part and the bassist another. Wondering if is an identical case or just a mistake.

Imo is only Darryl. Great bass, btw.

Any thoughts?

Jumacfly As an average bass player, I consider the bass on ABB like the worst ever recorded on a Stones record.
It's flat,uninspired, and so poor.
even a beginner could play all ABB songs on bass.

Jair I forgot to mention the song is Look What the Cat Dragged in.

As ignorant on this subject, I liked alot the bass on this song.

CraigP The Stones haven't been nearly as good since Wyman left.
The lack of his quality and chemistry has affected the band's sound very much, in a bad way.

Very true live wise, not a lot of difference in the studio if you ask me, he hadn't been playing much since the 82 Paris sessions really anyway.

lotsajizz many Stones songs have two--and even three--bass tracks laid down
December 5th, 2005 09:27 PM
MidnightRambler Their work in the studio has suffered since Wyman left...but before that...their studio work has suffered since Ian Stewart left

lotsajizz well, those with an upright bass in addition to the lectric bass on 'Exile' alone are 'Turn On The Run' and 'Rip This Joint'...there literally dozens of other multi-bass examples in the Stones catalog
