" LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - California police have issued an arrest warrant for pop star Michael Jackson and are negotiating with his lawyers on the terms of his surrender, a Las Vegas police spokesman said on Wednesday.
The spokesman said that California authorities had contacted the Las Vegas department because Jackson was staying in the gambling resort city preparing a music video.
Spokesman Jose Montoya said the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department did not specify the charges in the warrant against Jackson.
There have been widespread media reports that the 45-year-old singer is being investigated on allegations that he molested a 12-year-old boy who stayed at his Neverland Ranch about three months ago.
Santa Barbara police have scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. EST. About 60 police investigators have been searching Jackson's Neverland Ranch compound in central California since Tuesday, hauling away dozens of boxes in the so-far unexplained probe. "

He can't simply settle out of court like the last time. He has been criminally charged and it is not up to the victim anymore but rather the DA's office ...the victim, however, could refuse to testify just like in 93 and the DA would have a tough time proving his case. I'm sure he(Jackson) will have "feelers"(no pun intended) to see if the family is receptive to a cash deal in exchange for the victim not testifying. |

They have the family sequestered and the DA has reported that the kid is willing to cooperate.

It's the same guy from 93! He definitely was waiting for something like this to come up again. It will be interesting Nanker, but I have my doubts that he would ever be convicted...perhaps if they really have the goods, make a plea for child endangerment.

I always root for the underdog. Jacko, while unquestionably strange to most, deserves due process like any other defendant. How many priests are there who have done far worse, yet have never been criminally charged as the church has paid tens of millions of dollars to cover up their crimes. Here, you have an overzealous prosecutor still pissed he could not get jacko in 93. I trust Jacko's defense lawyers will discover what is really happening here. |
