Anyone catch the Johnny Cash tribute? Very good and he mentioned when he and Keith were at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame when they both were in the bathroom together
Of course Sheryl Crow was there, lookin SMOKING hot
I am really starting to like these country folk, they know how to party and stick together |

I caught the tribute when it aired on CMT Saturday night.
Very moving and one of the most respectful tributes I've ever seen. It was in fact, deeply moving at times, especially when Rosanne spoke and gave that long speech about her Father. I wish he would have been my Dad, what an increidbly kind and honest person Johnny was. I don't know how she got through that speech without losing it.
Another special moment for me was when Kris Kristofferson mentioned what Bob Dylan had said after Johnny passed (you can find his tribute in full length in Rolling Stone magazine) that Johnny was "The North Star". He choked up and had to turn away from the camera right then.
I love how these musicians hang together, too. And they can jam!
I also really liked Johnny Mellencamp's tribute and version of Johnny's "Hey Porter". Very intimate and special, just John and his guitarist, Mike Wanchic. You could hear a pin drop. (Hey, I didn't marry that man for no reason!!!)
I think some members of this board were in attendance when the show took place in Nashville...and I waited to see them post about the show.
Did I miss that?
Anyone?

Hey Martha,
I was lucky enough to attend the Cash Memorial and Mellencamp was amazing. He actually stood on the stage for about ten minutes while someone spoke. His version of Hey Porter was great. The highlight had to be everything Willie Nelson did that evening. He performed on three or four songs and was amazing each time. Though it wasn't on the telecast, Willie, Kris, Hank Jr., and George Jones sang Highwayman. It was great except for the fact that George sang Waylon's verse like he had never heard the song. Hopefully, CMT will release an unedited version of the tribute on DVD. |

Thank you for telling me about the show Larry. I am thrilled you got to attend it. I hope it is released in full as well! |
