Samhain! It's time for me to crack open the Misfits box set again. "Hallowee-ee-eeen!" Did you get a chance to see Glenn Danzig do a recent set of misfits tunes with Doyle??

Motley Crue? I will see them open for THe Stones on Sunday night in Seattle. Was gonna pass, but i gotta see them open, for comedic value!

pdog I didn't go to the Danzig with Doyle shows, but I heard they were awesome.
How is the new Supergrass record, compared to the older ones...or something...
October 29th, 2005 01:50 AM
Dan Beer - Danzig with Doyle is at the Universal tomorrow. Until about 2:00pm today I was unsure whether it was going to be that or Judas Priest/Anthrax at the San Diego Sports Arena but it will be Danzig. Its in walking distance and I am getting those $5 vibes off that show. You plan on recording Sunday? You know any tapers? Its my birthday and Seattle is my favorite city, I would have gone except Judas Priest and Anthrax is playing Long Beach Arena with GA floor that night.

The Supergrass CD is good, but its unique and cannot really be compared to the others. Thats one of the things I like most about them is that they explore new sounds and methods with each album without trying to ape past "successes." Even IF they ever put out a bad album it would be forgiven because they at least put effort into their CDs. Nothing really catcy this time around.

beer Dan, please post a review of the Glenn/Doyle gig after you see it!!!I heard the do a straight up Misfits set in the middle (20 eyes, horror biz, Green Hell. etc) you are lucky!

As for taping the Seatlle show, i cannot. But i'm pretty sure it will be taped by at least 2 other people that i know of. And i'd bet a recording of the Crue will be easily available as well.

I forgot to mention, there is a KILLER DVD of the Philadelphia gig from earlier in the year!

I hope so! I even plan on holding uncirculated stuff hostage til I get Motley Crue JUST so I can listen to them and the Stones back to back. It took almost 2 years for me to get the Therapy? opening set from Werchter 03 and there are still a few openers from the Licks tour I want.

JuanTCB I'm a little freaked out right now because over the last few days I've been listening to . . .

- Misits and Samhain - 'Tis the season and all... I don't wanna be a dick, but the Glenn/Doyle reunion doesn't really excite me. I'm glad Glenn's singing 'Fits stuff again but if you bring Doyle in, you gotta have Jerry, too. That said, I've also been really digging the "Misfits Meet The Nutley Brass" album - all '60s-style lounge instrumentals of 'Fits classics. It's great - especially Some Kinda Hate.

- Supergrass. Road To Rouen is a grower, I think, but so far I'm not totally sold on it. Tales Of Endurance and Kick In The Teeth are the tracks doing it for me right now. That didn't stop me from watching the 10th anniversary DVD this afternoon, though. And "In It For The Money" is my pick for best album of the '90s, if anyone cares.

- "Moulty" by The Barbarians. Best use of a Masshole accent in a song, evah - yeah, evah. Moulty - are you one and the same??? And were you really making a bomb?

That said . . .

- A Bigger Bang - it just keeps getting better. "Look What The Cat Dragged In" is tops right now.

- "Hey Negrita" is my 'pick up the Strat and pretend I'm Ronnie" song of the week. I can't make the 'pinching a loaf' face while I play yet, though - I need to work on that.

- "Time Waits For No One" is my 'pick up the Les and pretend I'm Mick Taylor" song of the week. Which is even better if I eat an entire pizza beforehand because the distended stomach adds to the reality of the situation.

- "Dancing With Myself", but the Generation X version with Steve Jones fucking SLAYING on it. Wall Of Guitar. It's great and it makes me wanna break stuff.

- The Malbec. Madafaka and Soldatti, you guys know how to do it right. I'm on my second bottle tonight right now.
