Can some kind person here please help me with the "provenance" of this disc? Looking for the title, label, matrix, artwork, etc.
This disc is basically "El Mocambo '77", except the tracks are in a different order, the 2nd version of "Route 66" isn't here, and 4 tracks have been added.
Here's the details on the disc:
1 Disc - 51:53
1. - Dance Little Sister 3:05
2. - Little Red Rooster 5:16
3. - Around & Around 3:32
4. - Hand Of Fate 4:02
5. - Route 66 2:55
6. - Worried About You 7:49
7. - Crackin' Up 5:15
8. - Let's Spend The Night Together 2:49
9. - Pretty Beat Up 4:34
10. - Black Limousine 4:20
11 - Unknown Title 2:45
12. - Fool To Cry 5:26
The "El Mocambo" tracks end with track 8.
Track 9 - Pretty Beat Up is a studio outtake with Keith on vocals.
Track 10 - Black Limousine is a studio outtake with Keith on vocals.
Track 11 - Unknown Titles is a studio outtake with Keith on vocals. I can't understand enough of the vocals to suss out the title. Starts off with something like "anyone can see I been waiting. . ." This line also repeated around the 1:00 mark. There's a sax playing throughout the track. Keith keeps saying "lonely" throughout the track. At the 0:33 mark Keith calls out "F" to the band for a chord change. At the 1:33 mark some guitar feedback starts and Keith says, "stay on it." What is this song people? I am just not familiar with this one.
Track 12 - Fool To Cry sounds like it is from somewhere on the '76 tour and is probably not from the El Mocambo shows as the whole sonic feel of this track is different from the first 8 tracks.
The sound quality on this whole disc is pretty excellent. Both the El Mocambo tracks and the outtakes. I'd give the whole disc a 9+ on sound quality.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

thats all there is from El Mocambo. If I'm right in remembering, Lets Spend The Night Together is incomplete - maybe another track as well. Fool To Cry is NOT from el Mocambo as theres no version of it from those shows in circulation. |

Starting to get a glimmer on this one now.
Tracks 9 & 10 are actually New Barbarians. Track 11 had me so confused I kind of glossed over these two and jumped to the conclusion that it was Keith on vocals when it's actually Ronnie. They are also LIVE tracks and NOT studio outtakes. (Like I said - I glossed over...)
Track 11 is also New Barbarians from 1979-04-13 New Barbarians Culver City Rehearsals I'm told by a couple different sources.
Can anyone come up with a title for this disc now? |

The New Barbarians never either rehearsed or played either "Black limousine" or "Pretty beat up" - their only tour was '79, BL was recorded before that and released in 81 and PBU wasnt written and then recorded until late 82.
By the sound of it (added to the fact that Ronnie co wrote both songs), those two live performances come from Ronnie's solo shows in 1992-93. On the 1992 leg, the two songs were played back to back in that order, so my guess would be they come from 1992 performances.

I think you are correct Gazza.
All this has helped me eliminate some titles this disc definitely is not. Anyone have these titles that it might be?
DON'T YOU WANNA LIVE WITH ME ON ROUTE 66?
OUR DEMONIC INVOCATION
STONES EL MOCAMBO
Or with all the information now from Gazza does this disc ring a bell with anyone? |

The unknown Keith track is Lost and Lonely, also from rehearsels.
