Michael Hutchence Remembered
Saturday, Nov 17, 2007 3:52AM
The 10th anniversary of the death of INXS singer Michael Hutchence will be marked with a November 24 concert called "The Loved One."
Held at Manning Bar in Sydney, the dozen artists appearing include Noiseworks' Steve Balbi, Choirboys' Mark Gable and Mandy Kane.
Hutchence died in his hotel room in Sydney on November 22, 1997, aged 37, of an apparent suicide.
Even in death, Hutchence gains media attention. His sister Tina lashed out a few months ago at Sir Bob Geldof's plans to adopt Hutchence's 11-year old daughter Heavenly Hirani Tiger Lily and change her name to his.
Geldof has looked after Tiger Lily since her mother, TV presenter Paula Yates - who was married to Geldof - died of a drug overdose in 2000.
He has not given the INXS singer's family access to the girl. The sister reckons that Geldof is trying to erase the memory of her brother.
In the meantime, British director Nick Egan revealed that Heath Ledger and Colin Farrell were among those on the list to play the lead in the Hutchence biopic "Slide Away."

Ade i miss him.

A great frontman.
Saw INXS on a number of occasions.
They always gave their all, onstage, and had
a frontman that most bands would cut off limbs for.

RIP Michael

he was beaten to death, and not by himself.

i am not sure who killed him, but somebody did. the guy had two broken wrists, and a broken hand, and several broken ribs - BEFORE he was strung up. he sure didnt hang himself, and that auto-esphixiation(sp) rap was bullsh*t - it is impossible to hang yourself with two broken wrists and a broken hand...

y'all shouldnt believe everything you read in the mainstream press - and bloozy, ol' buddy, you should know better

corgi37 Last people known with him were small time Aussie actress Kim Wilson and her b/f. She's the one who painted Michael's toes i presume.

She's like 4ft 8, so i dont think she broke anyone's bones.

But i think she DID paint his toenails. Either way, she never did anything much after that and is living in L.A.

Me too, Ade.
I wish I could have seen him at least once - unfortunately, it never happened.

where did you hear this stuff??

18th November 2007 10:23 PM
mac_daddy hey sia!

the info is in the autopsy, which was pretty much ignored (kind of like the bs that was the "death by misadventure" label that was attributed to brian jones' death)...

check the book The Covert War on Rock written by Alex constantine

stonedinaustralia ok - thanks for that

Hmmm. I hadn't heard that either. Too bad Paula Yates committed suicide. Or is that another cover-up? Hmmm.
Strange that Geldof won't allow Hutchence's family to see the little girl. I saw photos of her on the internet years ago, and she was a little doll - looked just like her father.

Hi gypsy! I think the girl's name is Tiger Lily. I haven't heard that Geldorf won't allow Hutchence family to see her. Do you know why?

Hi FG! I thought whenever I saw photos of her, some of them were of her with Hutchence's father. But I have heard that Geldof won't let them see her (it's in the first post, as is her full name). Weird.

It works - and, oh my God, that was sad. Poor little girl without her real parents. She's beautiful though, and looks happy.

robpop Michael Hutchence was a great frontman in am underrated band. INXS was popular when nobody was playing true rock and roll. INXS was a mix between rock and roll and the eighties stuff. I always thought they had a pretty good sound.

I had the honor of seeing him play in his final concert with INXS.

mac_daddy here is the chapter on jimi hendrix:

and here is some of the chapter on bob marley:

and another source kind of corraborating the theory:

glencar I remember hearing about his death as I was gearing up for the Stones in Vegas. He was pretty good & I'm surprised by the amount of broken bones & all. Highly suspicious.
21st November 2007 08:10 AM
mac_daddy suspicious, indeed.

read the jimi hendrix chapter, about how the wine he supposedly choked on was put in his throat post-mortem...

the book makes a very compelling read, and not just for the tinfoil hat set...

______

oh, and a very warm "happy thanksgiving" greeting to all of you. have a great weekend.

Prodigal Son I never cared for Hutchence when he was doing his Fabio/Bowie cross like in some of those cheesy 80s-styled INXS videos like "Need You Tonight." INXS was a good group but sometimes when they tried to be funky, their music sounded like rejected soundtracks to porn. They were good when they combined that funky dance floor stuff with new wave rock. Songs like "Original Sin," "Need You Tonight," "Never Tear us Apart," "Devil Inside," "This Time," "Listen Like Thieves" and "Bitter Tears" are some of the better examples. Even though that Rockstar thing had the potential for suckage, "Pretty Vegas" was as good a mainstream rock hit as you could ask for in 2005. But anyway, he was a great frontman; great voice, great stage presence. He kinda reminds me of Mick sometimes. Check out this and see the similar great stage presence:

BTW, great new wave song. A bit overproduced, especially the guitar parts, but I still like it and there were several worse pop records made in 1982 for sure.

Inxs always closed with that song. Probably their best. Little did I know when I saw them do that song in 1997 that it would he his last.

Say it loud and say it proud

Ronnie Richards He died as he lived - as a wanker.

INXS was a fucking horrible band - I'd rather listen to the Eagles covering Bon Jovi..
