...to consider it a keeper:
1) The screw-up on the Charlie kick-in for the last verse of Thru and Thru (understood, now, why it did not end on FF!?);
2) The 2am piano on Fancyman Blues;
3) Mick's howl booming from on channel to another at the beginning of the Harlem Shuffle's NY mix;
4) The scratch welcoming Mixed Emotions IV;
5) The handclapping underlining Tumbling Dice.
What about yours?
Ciao,
Chris |

I actually only have three reasons, as I just bought it and am slightly disappointed with the tracks they chose... y'know, the live ones that are widely available in stores everywhere (Wild Horses, Live with Me, Mannish Boy). But here are my three reasons why I won't return this one:
1. The excellent sound quality on songs that I previously only owned on bootlegs (Fancyman, Beast of Burden, Let It Rock, Never Met You).
2. Thru and Thru, for the "fuckin' blues" part.
3. Through the Lonely Nights. I've now heard every officially released Stones song there is (exceptin', of course, inane remixes and whatnot) with the inclusion of this one. Nice song, BTW. |

it was exactly what i was wondering today as i bought it...:"why?"
i could only come up with a reason
because i love the rolling stones
to the extent i decided to let them steal my money and be happy |

Got most this shit already, but was browsing waterloo the day it came out and they were jammin it in store, I couldn't resist, $13 bucks I said what the hell
Here's 5
Fancyman, Dice, Beast, Let It Rock and Lonely Nights all sound pretty dope, sound quality on those five songs is better than anything I've previously had
plus I've already jammed it more than a handful of times, which is probably twice as many more times than I've listened to that fat turd they dropped a few months back, that's gotta be worth something
I like it!

I made a list of all the B-Sides from all the Stones singles that never made it on an album and I was wondering why Think I'm Going Mad isn't on Rarities. Here's the list:
B-Side/ A-Side
Let It Rock/ Brown Sugar (UK only)
Through The Lonely Nights/ It's Only Rock & Roll
Everything Is Turning To Gold/ Shattered
Think I'm Going Mad/ She Was Hot
Fancy Man Blues/ Mixed Emotions
Cook Cook Blues/ Rock and a Hard Place
Wish I'd Never Met You/ Terrifying
The Storm/ Love is Strong
So Young/ Love is Strong
Jump On Top of Me/ You Got Me Rocking
I'm Gonna Drive/ Out Of Tears
Anyway You Look At It/ Saint of Me
this list does not include songs like Sedrive, If I wa A Dancer,Under The Radar, We Don't Wanna go Home, etc. which appeared on live or greatest hits albums or the ABB/DVD only.

Yeah, a Bsides-only collection would definitely make more sense than Rarities.
BTW, Through The Lonely Nights is not a very good tune, is it? Sorta like a 70's Streets of Love.. |
