Well it was my concoction. By the way Dylan once had a tour called The Rolling Thunder Revue so why not?
11th October 2006 09:45 AM
paddy if Dylan names a tour that's OK.if you name it ,it's not !

just another leg of the so called Never Ending Tour, started in 1988.

watch this space and i'll put some MP3's from the tour here as and when i get them.

F505 Short setlist! Only 2 songs from Modern times.
And imo Bob should skip 14. en 15. These songs are played to death. But I guess every artist has his 'Satisfaction'.

1. Cat's In The Well
2. You Ain't Goin' Nowhere
3. Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
4. When The Deal Goes Down
5. Watching The River Flow
6. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
7. It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
8. Tangled Up In Blue
9. Workingman's Blues #2
10. Highway 61 Revisited
11. Simple Twist Of Fate
12. Desolation Row
13. Summer Days

(encore)
14. Like A Rolling Stone
15. All Along The Watchtower

12th October 2006 05:16 AM
Gazza Thought we'd have seen the last of Tweedle Dum and Summer Days - hopefully a couple of the more uptempo songs from MT will replace them as the tour progresses.

Interesting one-two punch to open with

LARS and Watchtower have probably been the most played songs in the last 3-4 years, but unlike Satisfaction at least he's fiddled with the arrangements a little from time to time. Its not a bad thing when theres only TWO songs that you KNOW youre going to get for sure.

Yes but 2 songs out of 14... (isn't that the same as 5 songs out of 22?. You're right about the uptempo songs. Would love to hear The Levee!

no..its closer to 3 out of 22

well..its 2 out of 15. With most Stones shows (until recently) its about 10-12 out of 19 that are pretty much certs to be played.

he hasnt varied the shows as much this year as he did in previous years, in fairness, but its still quite good.

I think over the 5 London shows last November (I was at the first two), he played 50 different songs. When I saw the last two shows of the year in Dublin a week later, apart from Watchtower and LARS, I think he only repeated one other song over the 2 nights.

paddy that said i am sick to death of tweedle fucking dum and tweedle fucking dee and summer daze.i also don't like (yet)
modern times.

a friend is going over for both boston shows but i am not straying far anymore until those two (and honest with me)
are gone from the set.

the "normal" punters who go to one show on their doorstep want to hear LARS and Watchtower - that's fair enough.
12th October 2006 06:52 AM
Gazza I dont mind hearing LARS and Watchtower, because I think he still does them well enough - remember LARS at Barrowlands in 2004? Best version I've ever heard at a show I've been at - Bob seemed to think so too.

Likewise, Highway 61 is still consistently good.

Did he drop LARS at Dublin #2? If so, I'd forgot that. Surprised to read how relatively infrequent it was played last year. Id have thought it was almost an ever present.

All those debuts at Brixton #2 were amazing. It was like watching a magician keep pulling rabbits out of a hat. Million Dollar Bash that night still gives me chills when I hear it. I dont think he ever played it again, did he? Pity - he nailed it. It was almost like a calypso version.

paddy sadly that was the lone Million Dollar Bash ! LARS was a shock to me as well,i would have guessed at it being virtually ever present.i'm sure i heard it at 10 of the 11
shows i attended.
12th October 2006 08:45 AM
kovach Is he still playing only the piano live?
12th October 2006 09:05 AM
paddy yes ! or at least, keyboards.last few tours it was in "organ" mode.................
12th October 2006 09:26 AM

jostorm
this is Bill by the way !..it's the only Dylan album ever that i can't get in to (so far)......very ordinary.i can't hear anything that moves me,though the TV ad is OK ! i hear that large chunks of the lyrics are stolen wholesale from an old poet called Timrod or some such..........i think it is absolutely terrible........and i say that as a Dylan fanatic.

12th October 2006 11:18 AM
Martha I KNEW he was gonna pull out songs off Modern Times.

:-)

I'm THRILLED! Waiting for the Denver gig with bells on now. (And my 75 year old Mother is coming to see him for her first time....she's PSYCHED). :-)

BTW, anyone listen to his Theme TIme Radio Hour yesterday? The topic was "time". He began the show by mentioning our Stones....and then he went TWENTY minutes over the hour and never said a word about it.

IMP!

jostorm Yes, paddy, I KNOW that you are billy1234, Darling! I did say hello on the "IORRsite" thread but I'm afraid it escaped your attention, oh well, let's blame the weird layout of this site....

I still listen to your Dylan bootleg with my favourite version of "Visions of Johanna" all the time! And the Madrid concert 87, it really made my day when those arrived in the post....

I have to say that "Modern Times" has really grown on me, perhaps the same thing will happen to you, given a bit of time?...
To me it is the one of his albums that I would describe mostly as "sung poetry", if you know what I mean. Not that I'm as much of a Dylan specialist as you or Gazza...
Anyway, welcome, glad you've joined, we need as many European lunatics as possible to keep this lot balanced out...
12th October 2006 12:20 PM
paddy i am barred from IORR site...........
12th October 2006 12:21 PM
paddy whoops !
sorry,i see what you mean !
12th October 2006 12:29 PM
jostorm That's ok,paddy, I left voluntarily and I'm certain I'm not the only one, it started to feel a bit like PolPot's regime, not being able to say anything at all, although I know that Bjornulf is a very, very nice man! Perhaps he simply decided that the best way of minimising the time he wastes on moderating it, is simply to forbid negativity, politics, Elizabeth Taylor versus Ronnie debates, religion, war, etc....which leaves...erm....what does it leave? I suppose dream setlists, but not much else....
12th October 2006 12:40 PM
