Topic: Are there no "X" or "Y" titles of any Stones works?........From Ian Return to archive
November 21st, 2004 02:57 AM
IanBillen

I was thinking that the Stones with all their realeases in both albums and singles never produced any track or album that started with an "X" or a "Z".

It may seem like a sensless post but they have put out soooo much damn work over the past 40 years that I find it interesting that there are no titles that start with these letters in a song or an album.

Am I wrong or are there any that I over-looked?
If I am correct it leads me to ponder if there's any chance the next release will break that track.

Just something to think about I suppose.
I stayed in this Saturday evening instead of going out and this came to mind.

Snappy McJack Ian, I know you are anxiously awaiting news that relates to an upcoming album, but as a fellow board member I stress that you give up the pleading and wishful thinking.

Gazza Ok..I'll bite..

They did a song for the "Undercover" album called "XXX" which was later rewritten as "Pretty beat up". "XXX" (or "Triple X") was also an early title for the album.

They recorded songs called "Zulu" and "Zip mouth angel" for "Voodoo lounge", and a never-bootlegged piece called "Zabadoo" for GHS.

No songs beginning with "Q", though.

So there.

I don't have any current pics but I guess I will get one soon.

At least then everyone will place a face with the name.

I forgot about the bootleg Zip Mouthed angel.

But none were official releases.

Nice input Gazza.

glencar Any chance of Zip Mouth Angel (or Honest Man) showing up on an official release?
November 22nd, 2004 04:01 PM
Gazza wouldnt bet against Honest Man.

If they ever were to put out an outtakes release a la Bob's Bootleg Series etc, its a left over song thats both a) clearly a finished take and b) very very good.
November 22nd, 2004 10:21 PM
Soldatti Voodoo Lounge got the potential to be the best Stones' album in 20 years but they failed in the choice of the songs, not less that 3-4 fillers in and not less than 2-3 good ones out. It's a good album, but could be much better.
