Ok, you know when you listen to a song on a site and you get that really cool light show thingy--that changes with
the music? Does anyone know what that's called? I know it's
not plasma. I would love to know if you can buy anything
that simulates that cool, groovy light show. Back in the
60's there was a light box that was similar to that, and
I wanted it desperately for Christmas, but Santa disappointed me... Thanks for your help..

it's called visualization....It's free and comes as part of just about any media player you download (which are usually free as well)...try Winamp or Media Monkey...you can change it as you wish

Ahhhh, thanks... Yes, I know you can get it on your computer. I was just wondering if there was any portable
or handheld device that has been manufactured for sale to
the public that has these same properties. Something I could look at anywhere---and take with me. Anybody know?
Thanks!

Ha, yeah, that's kinda funny. I swear, the light box that
I remember from the 60's was really cool. It was just a
box, probably 12x12 inches, and you plugged it in and it
just had swirly patterns and wavy, groovy lines going in
random order. Very mesmerizing. Of course, my Mom thought
I might just zone out totally if I got one and watched it
all the time. Sigh. I wonder what technology was used?
This was way before LED lights and pulsars and plasma
and such.

These guys look like they might be 10, maybe 15 years away from making you happy

Or...if you have any rhythm whatsoever, you can make your own...people are easily impressed when they're high

Lol, muy bueno and gracias...or something like that. Yeah,
those guys need to keep workin' on it. I guess you just
can't get that computer effect outside of a computer
program. But how in the world did they do it in 1968??
This box was nothing like anything I've seen here. It was
more like the visualizations you see when you listen
on the computer...

you make Shmoey sad lil' Gypsy
Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain
And ironing out the rough spots
Is the hardest part when memories remain
And it's times like these when we all need to hear the radio
`Cause from the lips of some old singer
We can share the troubles we already know
Turn them on, turn them on
Turn on those sad songs
When all hope is gone
Why don't you tune in and turn them on
They reach into your room
Just feel their gentle touch
When all hope is gone
Sad songs say so much
If someone else is suffering enough to write it down
When every single word makes sense
Then it's easier to have those songs around
The kick inside is in the line that finally gets to you
and it feels so good to hurt so bad
And suffer just enough to sing the blues
Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say
Sad songs, they say so much
