yeah! that four cd thing that came out formatted like a book - with a liner note book in the middle, and two discs housed on the inside of either cover. if i remember correctly, the thing cost $40 when i bought it new c. 1992 (what a deal!)

anyway, those are all numbered editions, and they are now out of print.

You're right Mac! In the book there is written LIMITED EDITION 0425546. I have a jewel between my hands!
BTW, continuing with the discs of limited editions, I am listening to PINK FLOYD - Pulse.
Yes, the same one that has the red light in the box.

Monkey Woman D.C. Simpson's "Streptococcus". I kid you not, it's the working title of a song! I hope one day the guy releases a CD, I'd buy it gladly. He's got enough talent for several lifetimes.

We've all heard these tunes (Cocksucker and Andrew) hundreds of times, but there's something very special about the sound on this particular release. The echo on Cocksucker is especially spectacular and menacing and Andrew is just right lo-fi bootleg perfect secret history of rock and roll type stuff.

I have to DJ a wedding this weekend so I'm spinning all sorts of oddball business at the moment. Including:

Hankshaw Hawkins Sings
The Sound of Wilson Pickett
Johnny Paycheck - Lovin' Machine (the BEST Little Darlin' album, period).
Pixies - Doolittle (Oh my is that a good record)
Ramones -- Road to Ruin

Delinquentes -- Jovenes Punks De America Latina (this for the Mexican rock and roll cake walk)(?!?!)

etc. etc.

Should be a pretty wild wedding. . .

Remember, "The Replacement Party" gets underway 3 - 5 pm EASTERN on http://www.wpvm.org on Saturdays, so check out your favorite misanthropic record dealer (ME!) spewing music onto the airwaves from the comfort of your streaming computer! Rock while you post. Political affiliation is blessedly unnecessary.

And

Anyone who gives a shit about soul, funk or jazz should really own a copy of Roland Kirk's Blacknuss. I don't know where this album has been all my life. It is sheer magic. Kirk takes the melodies of "Ain't No Sunshine", "My Girl", "What's Goin' On", and of all things "Make It With You" and stretches them beyond the breaking point and turns their funk upside over and underdown. And what he does to "Old Rugged Cross" has to be heard to be believed. Throbbing, crazy, insane, unclassifiable, but totally soulful music.

SO GOOD!
