FotiniD I'm in a weird greek music week. I got a certain CD of rock / ballads that I can't seem to get out of the cd-player

Also, I'm going to buy Lucky Jim's cd today - I'm singing their "You stole my heart away" almost on a 24hour basis, so I figured, let's get the whole album and see if it's as good as this.

No Stones at the moment I must repent and write the lyrics of the whole "Dirty Work" three hundred times for forgiveness

T&A I also will dig more into the Faces boxset this weekend. Right now listening to a little-known Michael Bloomfield outfit called Mill Valley Bunch (album called "Casting Pearls") - anyone else ever heard of 'em?

Make It Funky Are they from Mill Valley, CA? I've actually been there. Have relatives that live in Belvedere actually...

But weren't The Mother Hips (off Def Jam) from Mill Valley?
Is the Bloomfield record good?? Sounds interesting. Thanks for the tip.

Cheers

I was on vacation in California 2 months ago, went through Bakersfeild for a few days to visit a relative, was gonna see Buck Owens perform at his place Bucks Crystal Palace, but his show got cancelled. I was looking forward to hearing Buck sing act naturally...

Did see the Bellamy Brothers perform there, cool show, but at least now I can safely say....I've walked the Streets of Bakersfield...

T&A Mill Valley Bunch was kind of a hodgepodge collection of Bay Area musicians that got together in the early 70's and did a bunch of songs - didn't get released for over 20 years. Nick Gravenites and others like that contributed. Not your classic Bloomfield blues tour-de-force (he has a few moments, though) - but a fun collection of tunes ranging from honky tonk to pop to soul....

M.O.W.A.T. Just got a Sony Mini-Disc player and currently have two MDs (5 and 1/2 hours each of Stones music on them).

Disc 1: 1963-1971 (My favourites including some unreleased stuff as well as live tunes)

Disc 2: 1971-1981 (again same content)

I just plug it into my car stereo put in on shuffle and it's just like listening to a real cool radio station.

For You Hendrix and Prince fans - check this out:

My wife bought me Power of Soul, the newest Hendrix tribute. I really like a few tracks:
- "Purple House" by Prince, his version of Red House
- Voodoo Child Slight Return by Earth, Wind, and Fire
- Burning of the Midnight Lamp by Clapton
- Little Wing by Stevie

I have heard Stevie do Little Wing before but this is a killer version...very long with extensive soloing and ad lib jammimg plus he throws in a few licks from Castles Made Of Sand and segues into 3rd Stone From The Sun

T&A Fito:

How do you like the new Alvin Lee? I've heard 30-sec samples - sounded pretty good.

You should check out the new Johnny Winter - despite reports that his ailments have debilitated his playing abilities - it's a good album. His playing/singing have slowed down a bit (who hasn't at age 60?) - but he's still virtually in a league of his own.
