Most of my favorites have already been listed. I would add The Mothers Live at the Fillmore East.
pavlov, I notice that you didn't list Live At Leeds. What's up with that? Have you heard the expanded version? |

Not a big fan of The Who. I just recently listened to the expanded version of Live At Leeds on Real Rhapsody with a good pair of headphones. I just don't get it: is The Who folk rock,proto-punk or a power trio? If someone could persuade me why I'd give them another chance. |

ya-ya's would be definitive had they not trimmed the last verse of sympathy...
not sure if it is the best, but jimmy cliff's "in concert, the very best of" certainly deserves an honorable mention. i am actually spinning the vinyl right now :P
you can flame me all to hell, but i think love you live is the best live album the stones have put out (ya-ya's would beat it had they included the acoustic stuff, and not castrated sympathy)...

By quite the quotient, its The Who's Live at Leeds. Pour in some Young Vic.
Sound barrier. Sonic boom. Sensory deprivation. Guinness book. Freq. Outer limits. Backstage with Keith Moon. 110 deciBels. Its the world's only Mega-watt Rock!

I concur on Live At Leeds.
pavlov wrote, "I just don't get it: is the Who folk rock, proto-punk or a power trio?" Well, they're definitely not a trio. But I don't get the problem. Does a band have to fit neatly into a narrow category to be good? I mean, it's like saying, "I just don't get it: are the Stones folk rock, blues, country, soul, adult contemporary or rock?"
Here's your assignment, pavlov. Obtain copies of Live At Leeds, Who's Next and Quadrophenia. Listen until you get it, then dig deeper into the catalogue. I know this will sound like a josh-style categorical, but I don't think you can call yourself a serious rock'n'roll fan if you don't, as Keith Richards said, "dig the Who."
The Who rock like nobody else. Keith Moon was, as he said himself, "the greatest Keith Moon-style drummer in the world." There's a reason why the phrase "The Beatles, the Stones and . . . " always ends with " . . . the Who." |

Is that better than Full House? 'Cuz Full House is pretty good.
I saw them shortly after this came out.
They rocked righteously. That was way before "Angel is a Centerfold" and all their other mediocre "hits". Success really ruined that band. |

Ten Years After - Undead
Van Morrison - It's Too Late to Stop Now
Most subversive: The Kinks' Everybody's in Showbiz. No hits to be found and versions of Mr. Wonderful and the Banana Boat Song in their place. It says Lola on the label but it's only the crowd chanting the chorus. |
