A simple guide to creating DVD torrents.
The first thing you will need to do is rip the DVD content to your hard drive. To do this I recommend using "DVDFab Decrypter". It is free, very easy to use, and can be found here:DVDFab Decrypter
Insert your DVD into the DVD Drive of your computer, select this as your "Source". Next choose a "Target" folder to rip the DVD to, then click the "Start" tab. Your DVD will now be ripped to the target folder. Once this process is complete, open the target folder and you will find 2 folders, one titled "AUDIO_TS" and one titled "VIDEO_TS". The AUDIO_TS folder will be empty and is not needed, the VIDEO_TS folder contains all of the content that you want to share.
You will need to create a folder for your torrent, and it should be named exactly as you want your torrent named.
Example: Rolling Stones - Philadelphia - 2005-10-10 DVD
You could create this folder ahead of time and use it as your target folder to rip to, then just delete the AUDIO_TS folder from it. One way or the other you will want the "VIDEO_TS" folder and all of it's contents in you "torrent" folder. So either rip to there to begin with, or move it there after. Now you can add anything else you would like to go along in your torrent, a text file with some information about the DVD is nice, also add some art work if you have it. Now that you have all of the files that you want in your folder it is time to create your torrent.
To do this, I recommend using "Make Torrent 2.1", again it is free and can be found here:
Make Torrent 2
To begin with, I always use Make Torrent in the Classic mode. Next click the "directory" tab and navigate to the folder you created for your torrent. Also make sure that you check the box that says "1 torrent from entire folder".
Enter the "announce URL" for the tracker that you plan to upload to. You will usually find this at each trackers upload page.
Now just click the "Create .torrent now!" tab and tell it where you would like to save the .torrent file (do not save it within your "torrent" folder).
THAT'S IT!, your torrent is now ready to be uploaded, follow the instructions at the tracker to do so.
NOTE: This guide is intended as a starter for those that need some help. I know that there are always other ways to do things, and other software to use. This is just one proven method, I've tried to keep things simple. |

It seems easy even to a dinosaur like me.
But, er, can you come to my house and just do it for me anyway? Or, failing that, burn copies for me and send them to me (free), art work too (free) and throw in a mint choccy or something?
Ever so grateful. |

Do you need anything else installed to use torrents?...And would it work if you clicked the audio tabs and were looking to upload a cd?.And I'm assuming no mp3's due to low file content??...Sorry for so many questions to an excellent post..but..I'm looking to plunge in very soon! |

You will need a "BitTorrent client" installed in order to download and upload the files. I've tried many, there are several good ones out there, I've recently switched from Azureus to µTorrent (µTorrent)and I really like it.
Here are some links where you may find some help to get you started, just dive in and you'll work your way through it.
