Gazza Ramones manager beaten to death

Stein co-managed The Ramones during their 1970s heyday
Linda Stein, former co-manager of punk band The Ramones, has been found dead at her Manhattan apartment.
A pathologist said the 62-year-old, who went on to become one of New York's leading estate agents, died from blows to the head and neck.

Stein, the ex-wife of Sire Records head Seymour Stein, managed the Ramones with Danny Fields during their 1970s heyday.

After parting company with the band in 1980, she went into property. Her clients included Sting and Billy Joel.

Long-time friend Sir Elton John told the New York Times he was "absolutely shocked and upset".

'Roller coaster'

According to the newspaper, Stein was the model for the agent who tries to sell Charlie Sheen's character an apartment in the film Wall Street.

Born in Manhattan, she worked as a teacher before a blind date with Seymour Stein brought her into the music business.

The record mogul would later tell Vanity Fair magazine their marriage had resembled "eight years on a roller coaster, and not always strapped in".

Stein is credited with arranging The Ramones' July 1976 appearance at the Roundhouse in London, thought to be one of the key moments in the creation of the British punk scene.

glencar Yes, I read about this today. I didn't realize she had anything to do with the Ramones. NYC's murder rate is way down but stories like this don't help. I hope they catch the killer ASAP.

pdog She managed the Ramones with Danny Fields. She was married to and advised Seymour Stein, president of Sire Records and vice president of Warner Bros. Records.
Sad news!

killerbitch Wonder if it was a robbery? Maybe someone thought she had valuables in her
apartment and broke in maybe to steal for drug money? Some people also
believe older people keep money in their houses or apartments instead of
banks, like large sums or whatever. I sure hope they find the killer(s) very
soon. Keep us posted.

There is a 99% chance it was a male. It isn't a hard call, unfortunately.

Bitch She was a Real Estate agent who was killed by her assistant! Most top agents have assistants, who usually end up stabbing them in the back, but not actually killing them! She got caught because she was seen using the dead woman's ATM card and withdrawing money. SO there is your motive, she was after money. Aaahhh, the greed in the real estate business is overbearing sometimes, especially when the market sucks, as it does right now in the NY area.
