In the 60's & 70's, to be a Rolling Stones fan was a synonymous of a rebel guy. "Hey, that person love Stones, probably use drugs, must be gay, I bet he does illegal things...", they say.
Now, to be a Stones fan, means what?
I'd say means indifference.
You?

Ahh, nothing like having a few beers and settling into a John Lee Hooker album...and of course checking out the RO board.
What do the Stones mean to me? It's all about sex, the best god damned dance music ever made, living the blues, letting the good times roll...letting the magic of the music take over.
There's nothing like drag racing on a Friday and Saturday night with Brown Sugar blasting from your stereo, engine revving, pipes rumbling - the kid next to you listening to JLo or fucking Emiminem with the backwards hat and the DVD player sticking up out of the dash doesn't have a chance.
How about those times at the club when the DJ drops Miss You or Jumpin' Jack Flash on you? Oh Christ, that's great.
When my co-workers ask me what I listen to, I tell them. The Stones. Let them figure it all out. I already have. |

Well the money thing is a given. But what really does it for me is the ability to still see them live. Let's face it, "good concerts", or more important, "good live acts" are dwindling quickly. I can't help but think what it's going to be like in 10-15 years from now. Personally, concerts will probably become a very rare thing for me.
The Stones are not only the greatest "beast" that music has to offer, but they transfer that energy, freedom, youth and rock just as hard when they're on stage. Concerts are probably the greatest thing I enjoying doing/attending/spending my money on. The Stones, for me, create the peak of that sheer pleasure that I love so much.
Stones music at concert-level decibels; the smell of pot and beer; the bare breasts magnified on the screen; the guy 5 rows back yelling "sit down". Sweet!

I never bought into the whole "identity" thing anyway. It's about the music - you like it or you don't. If it gets to be anything beyond that, you need to "get a life." |

The Rolling Stones are the symbol of Rock & Roll music, and everything that goes with it.

Took the words right out of my mouth man. Plain and simple, thats exactly what they are. You look up rock stars in the dictionary, you'll see the Stones. |
