Topic: Songs We'd Like To Hear On This Tour... Return to archive Page: 1 2
11-11-02 12:17 PM
TheSavageYoungXyzzy Alllllllright.

As a disclaimer: After going back through the archives lookin' around through old reviews, bootlegs and so forth, I think this is the best tour since '75, making it (in the general consensus) the fifth-best tour ever (Losing out to '69, '72, '73 and '75 in no particular order) or something like that. We've had an incredible variation on songs, the famous "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", a block of songs from a particular album, and, most importantly, a sober Ronnie Wood. They've been doing a damn great job.

So what're we still holding out for? I think right now we've got a massive success.

But the Top 5 songs I'd like to hear now:

1) She Said Yeah
2) Flight 505
3) Sway
4) Soul Survivor
5) Wanna Hold You/Little T&A (tie)

And the song they should probably drop?

"Like A Rolling Stone". Either drop it or just do it with Keith & Ronnie on backing vocals - none of this giant theatrical production crap.

Still, I'm really happy about this tour so far. And I'm lookin' forward to January, when I expect they'll change it up a little bit so they don't get bored.

Oh, and if they want to spice up their cover life as they've been doing with great success so far, why not stick in "Ballad Of A Thin Man" on the B-Stage for poor Brian? I think Mick'd blow that one away.

Highwire Rob
  • Highwire
  • Blinded By Rainbows
  • She's So Cold

The first two are just such poignant songs attempting to make sense of issues relevant to threats in our current state of world affairs: Hatred, Terrorism & War, Hypocrisy, etc. And the music to match Mick's powerful lyrics is Rockin'!

As for "She's So Cold" -- Homer Simpson has even performed it now. Come on Mick, you got'ta show Homer the real words!!

Actually, '78 beats '75 and not to enrage the ire of my dear friend Loogie, '81 beats '75 as well, but it is in the outside of conceptional continuity that this is the best tour since '78, although in terms of guitar wildness we have to settle for best SINCE '81.

Songs that should get the air
1. Highwire
2. Have You Seen Your Mother Baby
3. Flight 505
4. Dandelion
5. Slave
6. Had It with You
7. Salt of the Earth
8. Soul Survivor

10. You Can't Catch Me

Oh yeah, and the song from which my current signature is taken

I thought about putting Might as Well Get Juiced on my list as well. I saw them do it at MSG #3 at the end of the Bridges Tour, and it ROCKED! I think it was the only time they played it.

Nellcote Wintah, my comrade;

Did Mick break out the harp during that cut? I read where he & Keith fought over the cut which went out on B to B, as Keith wanted the non electronica version (which he claims exists). Must have been great!

Come down to earth from that Pats game yet? They never should have let it get out of hand, given the Bears player health. Get past Oakland on the road, with the division as it is, we could be looking good.
11-11-02 05:14 PM
winter Mick played the keyboard on that one, I'm pretty sure he broke out the harp as well, but it's been a few years now, so I'm not positive. They also did a slowed down version of "I just want to make love to you" on the B-stage. Very Nice!

I'm pretty sure there's a good boot out there - before the No Security shows in Boston, the Harp had it playing over their sound system.

That comeback was unbelievable yesterday. If we can get past Oakland, we should be able to rattle off a string of wins. We'll be squishing the fish in December for the AFC title.

And then there were my Canes on Sat. night, beating the snot out of Tennessee. Can you say REPEAT!

winter Nellcote:

One other point on MAWGJ, my recollection is that the guitars were pretty heavy, but the sound was still somewhat electronica. Mick would press a button, or hit a key, that would give that long Swzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound on the album cut, which unfortunately is my least favorite part of the song. Otherwise, I love the song. B2B is a damn good album IMO.
