Good one Zeeta!!
I love them both...but GHS is the sentimental favorite for me as it was my first Stones album!!

|
Boomy |
Lies vs. Hide Your Love is like "Battle of the Two Worst STones Songs of All Time".
I'd pick GHS as the better album, but "Respectable"...I love that tune. |

Extremly tough call, but MT gives GHS the nod. |

Wow, Boomy - those are two of my favorite Stones songs!
This is definitely and apples/oranges thing - might as well be two different bands. I give SG the nod - the best of a new Stones era, as opposed to GHS, which represents a sub-par effort from the previous era.... |

Yeah, I shoulda put the ol' "IMO" after my quote.
Squeak yer wheels and getcha greasin', whatever cooks your goose it ok with me.

It's weird that most of the best songs on GHS are ballads. |

Some Girls by a mile for me. |

Of course. GHS was a drop-off in quality & SG was a near-return. |

Some Girls vs Goats Head Soup
Oh geez! Do I really have to choose?
I love them both to death!
I guess I'll go with Some Girls, because Miss You is one of my favorite songs of all time. |

Some Girls, because it doesn't have Can You Hear The Music on it. |

Some Girls hands down. Now, yes there are some good tunes on GHS, but it doesn't sustain the same power and creativity found on Some Girls. The rockers, though similar in sound, are great punky energy. Some Girls is like an evening album you can rock out to at parties, while GHS is like an after-hours, late night mellow thing. Ever listen to that one while on a travel bus driving through the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia at 10 PM? A holy experience, man. I did that on a band trip last year.
Just to hear "Winter" while you drive along makes me feel good to be alive. Just try it at night while driving. It was the early stuff in the morning, the psychedelic period around noon, the late 60s rock comeback in the afternoon, the early 70s glory in the evening and then the post-Exile era at night.
One of those feel-good albums, GHS is, at night. In my Stones chronological compilation, having IORR come after is uplifting too at night. It just rocks. But, on the whole, Some Girls is more pleasing to me. Not so mellow, but more snarling and angry. |

Some Girls by a whisker, but imo Tatoo You blows them both away.

Seafood restaurant gets outta hand!
Sandinista - good melting pot of an album by the way!
Most people are going for Some Girls which has the aggressive edge!
Keep discussing...
At least we don't need a vote on the artwork! Bloody hell! GHS art is REAL BAD, Some Girls art is ironic, innovative and a design classic IMO!

Some Girls...because it doesn't have low points...nor even Lies as i read..that's an excellent punk song.Their most solid record since Exile
Goat's has 2 low points: CYHTM and Dancin with MR D

I really love Sandinista. somebody said that it's the most adventurous album that any white band has done, and it ain't far from that for sure! Only the third LP (I have it on vinyl) drags a bit.
And Some Girls is better than GHS. SG is in my top five but GHS is 'just' a solid great Stones album like Undercover, IORR, VL and some others. Oh, and I like Can You Hear the Music!

Boomy, c'mon, now. At least "Lies" had some energy behind it. "Hide Your Love" was a pathetic "We're still in a basement recording, really!" filler tune.
And "Back To Zero" has them both beat in terms of crap songs.
I give Some Girls the nod. Goat's Head Soup is much better than most people think, but Mr. Jimmy had run out of gas (Mickboy's remaster is reportedly excellent, though) and the wear was showing after spitting out four fantastic albums in a row. Some Girls was the great revitalization that just didn't carry like Banquet did.

Some Girls. Pretty much a knockout. In the early if not the first round. For energy, humor, relevance, better songs, a way better cover, and a vastly superior drum sound.
