This Saturday provides a test of the BCS computer rankings for college gridiron against the human polls. The Oregon Ducks are ranked 5 by the BCS but 4 by the humans. Arizona State is 4 in BCS and 6 in human polls. An Oregon win discredits the BCS (plus you'll see some great gridiron action). |

The good old BCS...Where its a fact Notre Dame is paid $1.3 million for every year it doesnt go to a BCS game and a minimum $4.3 million in the years it does. The whole thing is a crooked as Keiths fingers.... |

No need to worry. ASU will win. BCS still sucks though.
I get a kick out of how it can rank Boston College #2 and South Florida #2 before it lost. At least a half dozen teams could easily beat either of those two.

Just like any other team in the BCS. Just like Duke or Northwestern or Ohio State, anybody. |

As discussed here before there are one too many letters in BCS. The ASU Oregon game is very intriguing to me, and I will be watching, however most people east of the Rockies don't give a shit about the PAC 10.

Actually no.....that was a special fee agreed with ND to get them as independent to go along...All teams in BCS do not get 1.3 million not to play... |

No,
Actually you are wrong. Teams in conferences get 1.3 million when they dont qualify. People complained that ND got all 14 million when they made BCS Bowls the last two years, since they didn't split with anybody else. So they agreed 4.3 million, when they made it, and 1.3 million when they didn't. Exactly like any team in a conference. |

The BCS sucks. They need a playoff system that involves all major conference winners. Now teams are rewarded for playing easyh shedules. Like Boston College. They have'nt played anybody, but they are #2. What a joke. Oh,and Oregon will beat ASU. |

The only reason why you don't have a playoff system is money. All the sponsors for the bowls want the best matchups possible that will make the most money. The attitude is "Our bowl cannot have a team like Connecticut, Wake Forest, or Boise State play in a BCS bowl. We want a Florida, Florida State, or Tennessee who will get ratings and make our company money, even though these teams have three or more losses." What would happen if a Connecticut, a Wake Forest, or a Boise State did make the playoffs and get to the championship game? Of course, revenues and ratings would be down, but that is the main focus. The NCAA needs to realize that parody is now in college football, and like the NFL, the officials and sponsors have to get with the program. |

Welll both Boise ST and Wake Forest made BCS bowls last year and UConn will this year if they win the Big East. Which is a distinct possibility. |

Dennis Dixon is now at the front of the Heisman race. The Ducks are poised for a shot at the national championship (particularly after Michigan beats Ohio State in a couple of weeks). We will be avenged for the travesty of 2001!
