Gazza These days:

Americana is my latest musical passion. I'm in danger in overdosing on Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, Gram Parsons and all that stuff. Plus theres a really good Americana station on the Launchcast channel on Yahoo Messenger which I listen to a lot.

I've two Steve Earle shows coming up in Belfast and Glasgow this month and cant wait for them.

Gazza, I am into that scene myself, not sure if you've heard any of these guys, or if you'd even dig these cats, but I'd recommend scoping out:

Mavericks
Dwight Yoakam
Joe Ely
John Hiatt
Delbert McClinton
Townes Van Zandt
The Blasters
Jimmie Dale Gilmore

Those are some of my fav's besides the others you already mentioned.

I'm beginning to start to dig Lucinda Williams too

IanBillen This is a good Post.

POP (I'll probably get scorned I know I know) Pink, Christina A., Madonna, some Prince Stuff....and no I am not gay (lol)
Blues and Country Mixes.
Anything except over-board, obnoxious, silly type RAP. By this I mean the really blatent stupid stuff like I don't know....you know what I mean.
I don't hate Rap, I don't really like it either, By itself it is not my bag.
When Rap is slightly (I mean slightly) mixed into Rock or Blues I can listen to it and are more prone to appreciating it.

*Tony C and The Truth are a pretty decent newer band that mixes Rock, Blues, and a hint of Rap. I got their album Demonographic Blues and I like it.

As far as classic Stuff: Iggy Pop, The Who, Bowie, once in a while some Van-Halen, Once in a While some Doors.

Thanks Bloozy. I'm familiar (to varying degrees) with all of them except the Blasters and theyre all pretty good.

I saw Ely in Dublin in a little club on St Patricks Day about 8 years ago. He was excellent, made even better by the fact that for the last 40 minutes or so he was joined onstage by a certain New Jersey songwriter who you & I were both talking about on this board the other day after the election. Ahh...such memories

Lucinda's "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" CD is as good an album as I've heard in the last decade by anybody.

Ten Thousand Motels I'll admit Bloozehound, that you've got really good taste in music. I'd take what you say to the bank without asking for a second opinion. But your taste in politicans sucks though. IMO of course.
