gypsy I was only joking. Actually, some neighborhood kids really hate me. They wrote "I HATE YOU" on my driveway with chalk. Apparently, they blame me because the family of four that used to live here had to move.

hmps "Well, most people in the US that own guns do so responsibly and are not criminals -- myself included.

Segregation has historically been a problem in this country, no question.

Lame-ass pop music -- we certainly add to the supply -- but that is only because there is world-wide demand -- you can't blame that entirely on us!

Bush -- let's avoid that topic shall we... "

lol..
havn't laughed this much in a long time :P:P:P
- Of course not everyone with a gun will actually fire it.
But it happens. And if you do fire it - the chance is bigger that you actually kill someone than if you don't fire it. So... what I'm saying is..
oh, right.. first:
If you didn't know this.. we in Sweden, for an example, think that this rate of gunownage is REALLY scary.

now.. to have a gun is understandble.. you want to protect your family etc.. but I really can't grab it anyway.

to continue the interesting list:
- McDonalds (good idea! food on the road. fucking brilliant. BUT you get fat damnit!)

P.S.
I am an animal.
repeat.
I am a cannibal.
repeat..

Maxlugar Why did he give a piece of paper with his address on it saying call the cops?

Why is no one taking on this important issue?

Why?

It's almost as if his son was making him do it and the note was cry for help.

Is this little boy like the little boy in the Twilight Zone movie that could wish things to happen? Remember that kid? He kept his whole family hostage to his every whim. No one could discipline him!

Why is no one talking about this?

Wait, uh oh.... Is he controlling all of you too? Can he see me???

{{{{POOF!!!}}}

WHY ARE MY HANDS TURNING INTO LOBSTER CLAWS???

WHYU IIOS HEW DOOINGFF THJIS??>?>?>

HHJERLP!!

nankerphelge Well hmps, I understand your position on guns -- many here in the US hold the same beliefs. No question, if you point a gun at someone and shoot (assuming you can shoot well) -- you will injure or kill them.

So outlaw guns because they are inherently dangerous right?

Well what about cars -- big fast moving pieces of metal!
If you aim one at somebody and step on the gas, you will run them over, likely injuring and possibly killing them!

Or giant rocks!! If you drop one on someone's head, you could kill them!

Or pencils -- if you stick them through someone's skull you could kill them.

Or cotton candy -- if you bury someone in a big pile of cotton candy, they will suffocate.

My point is that many in this country believe that guns, like many dangerous things, are only dangerous in the hands of irresponsible people. And the risks of those irresponsible people do not outweight the rights of the responsible people to own them.

You can argue that guns, unlike cars, have no useful purpose. But I would say that personal protection of yourhome and family is about the most useful thing I can imagine. It is really an issue of responsibility and as I said, most people that own guns here are responsible.

And if someone is irresponsible enough to shoot a gun to kill someone, do you believe that the same person would obey a law that outlaws guns? Many drugs are illegal in this country too -- plenty of people still get them!!

Don't get me wrong, I ain't no gun totin' yahoo! I lived in Massachusetts (with one of the toughest gun control laws) and Virginia (perhaps the easiest state to get a gun) -- wanna take a guess where I feel safer?

Sir Stonesalot Next year, I will go trick or treating as Jonathan Richman of The Modern Lovers fame.

If I ever decide to put a band together we will do this song:

Government Center
Written: Jonathan Richman
Performed by: The Modern Lovers

Well, we gotta lotta lotta lotta hard work today
We gotta rock at the government center
Make the secretaries feel better
When they put those stamps on the letters

And they gotta lotta lotta lotta great desks and chairs
Uh-huh
At the government center
They gotta make the secretaries feel better
When they uh put those stamps on all those ledgers

Oh we gotta rocka rocka rocka non stop tonight
Uh-huh
At the government center
Make the uh secretaries feel better
When they uh put the stamps on all the ledgers

Won't stop till we see the secretary smile
We gotta see some office boy
he's jumpin for joy
Well oh, Mr Ahern calm down a while
You know it's the only way the center
Is ever gonna get better

SO!

Let's rocka rocka rocka non stop tonight
Uh-huh at the government center
Make the secretaries feel better
When they put those stamps in all those......ledgers

We gonna make 'em all fell better
(make 'em feel better, make 'em feel better)
Ah look out!
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
We gonna help out a lot
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
Take out our equipment
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
Do rock and roll
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
That's right
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
It's that feeling that we have inside
(make em feel better, make em feel better)
that we gonna transmit
(make em feel better make em feel better)
The secretaries gonna be dancin
(make em feel better make em feel better)
And not feel sick
(make em feel better make em feel better)
Yeah that feelin inside
We gonna transmit
(make em feel better make em feel better)
All right
Make 'em feel better
That's right

glencar Love that fuckin' song!

Sir Stonesalot Many dismiss Jonathan Richman as being a silly nerd who can't sing very well, who writes simplistic, even childish lyrics.

Well to those people I say...Phhhhhhhhhhhlllllllllllllllllllllllrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbtttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!

The world would be a much better place if we all tried to make the secretaries feel better.

Right jb?
11-06-03 12:45 PM
jb That's correct.
11-06-03 04:43 PM
gypsy I particularly like the "uh-huh" parts in the song...kind of p. diddy-ish.
